Chaos Halflings

Post by Thadrin »

Following on from the discussion about undead halflings, something that has been bothering me.

there are too damned many variant Chaos Halfling Rosters.
MBBL2 uses these two variants...
http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBLTeams/ChaosYum.html
which has a hell of a lot of special rules.

Phils's Lustrian league uses this:
http://www.lplbb.com/rules.asp
and he says it sucks badly.

and there's the FUMBBL stunty league variant.

I own a team of Phil's razorbacks, which has been augmented with a Heresy Minotaur and Troll. The FUMBBL roster is the one I like best of the 4 options, but I'd like to hear other opinions so we can maybe condense all these rules into one "major" version.

Open floor (and please don't tell me there's nothing wrong with the MBBL2 versions...I agreeits probably not broken, its just too much for me to bother remembering for Tabletop play.)

I also like the fumbbl one, the others just seems to complicated.

Blood Bowl game - $60
Cost of a Human Team - $40
The look on your opponents face as his one-turn scorer gets taken down by a thrown rock from the fans – Priceless.

Here is a link to the fumbbl ones

Fumbbl Chaos Halflings

*Note, you can have either two Minotaurs or Two Trolls, or one of each. Not 2 trolls and 2 Minos.

Here's what my league used to play with, before we did away with non-official teams. It's drawn mostly from the MBBL2 roster, but does away with almost all the special rules.

Code: Select all

# Name Cost MA ST AG AV Skills
0-16 Chaos Halfling 40k 5 2 3 6 Guard, Razor Sharp Claw, Stunty (AG,PH)
1 Yum 150k 5 6 3 10 Mighty Blow, Multiple Block, Regenerate (G,ST,PH)

Rerolls 70k

Special rules: Yum is a fallen Chaos Champion, his punishment is to play god (and Blood Bowl) with these worthless halflings. Yum cannot hand off or pass the ball to another player. Additionally, if the team he loses he kills a Chaos Halfling after the game to assuade his rage.
Our league thinks that this is a balanced and fun roster.

the lpl version has no special rules at all... really not that complicated... this season's version is something i wanted to try to see how bad a team that i thought would be a pick-em against regular halflings would fair... next year's version of the roster will be back to my normal "about goblin-level" roster...

0-16 chalflings 5237 guard, dodge, stunty 40k gm

plus, access to 2 minotaurs (at least until the let wild animals get guard assists)

no special rules... though i might add the chef to the team since i'm letting hte regular runts have one... havn't decided, really.... probably not, though...

Balrog's version seems like a lot of fun, or maybe the simple FUMBBL one. Either one of those two gets my vote.

Here's the Chaos Halfling list we use:

0-16 Chaos Halfling 5 2 3 7 Block, Stunty, Right Stuff, Jump Up, Foul Appearance  G/Ph 40k
0-2 Kicker 5 2 3 7 Block, Stunty, Right Stuff, Jump Up, Foul Appearance, Dirty Player  G/Ph 60k
0-4 Chaos Warrior 5 4 3 9 G/S/Ph 100k

Up to 2 chaos warriors may be replaced by Trolls.

Originally they didn't have Jump Up, but it was added to make them a bit less crappy.

I was thinking along the lines of:
0-16 Halflings 5/2/3/7 Dodge, Stunty, Razor sharp fangs (tusks) (g,ph) 40k
0-2 Big Guys (may choose Minotaurs or trolls).
no chef, rr 60k.

Which is pretty similar to the FUMBBL roster, but with generals instead of agility (I like the idea of halflings with dauntless...not that the halfling who SId a Kroxigor last game needs it) and the RSF because...well...it fits the concept..

I agree that RSF fits the concept, but against other stunties it is way too powerful. That's why we replaced it with Foul Appearance.

Yep, RSC are over the top. Of the proposed lists I perhaps like the fumbbl list the most, but for an all-stunty league it definitely should have some twist, but foul appearance might be too good too.

or wait... maybe give them shadowing - given the fact that other stunties should be dodging alot this would make matches really interesting

Chaos halflings 5 2 3 6 Shadowing, Dodge, Stunty, Right Stuff Ag,Phys 40K

? :)

With that movement they could really be a pain for the dwarf teams that are trying to avoid contact by dodging away constantly.

I don't see shadowing fitting the concept...unless you really think of them as ultimo predators (now THERE's a concept...feline team with a few shadowing "hunter-blitzers"...).

I like the FUMBBL list a lot, despite what happened to my CH team yesterday (ran into a piling on minotaur). Worst case scenario its the one I'd go with, though I would allow generals instead of agility just for a little more variety (thing I learned from yesterday's game: Diving tackle on several stunty opponents is a real pain in the rump.)

My tabletop lie up will go with that with a mino (he's ready painted - a Heresy Mino Lord) and a troll (Heresy again). I'll be needing a couple more Razorbacks I think. Maybe I should do a couple of conversions for "Star" halflings.
