Alternate Bonehead rules

Post by Talafar »

Seeing as a lot of posts have commented on bonehead not being a negative enough trait when compared with WA or Really Stupid, I thought it would be good to have a thread full of other ideas for it.
My personal (admittedly not playtested) idea is for a failed bonehead to remain as it is now, except the player also has -2/-3 Strength for the next turn (opponents) , to represent their increased vulnerability.

I could see that, half strength, if they fail their roll.

I'd like to see a BH who fails his roll count as RS for his next (and subsequent turns), until it rolls a passed RS roll.

Darkson ... that one has merit. Not sure how much worse it really makes the trait ... but it would be interesting to see if it would make the Ogre not so great of a player.

Do you mean if he fails his Bonehead roll (2+), the next turn he has to roll a 4+ after that unless he has a non RS/BH standing next to him?

I like that idea. Not big hit, but enough that it might make a difference.\
Good job. :)

That is what he was suggesting. Like you said Dark Lord... not a big hit ... but it might help.

I do like that suggestion, but shouldnt bonehead be as bad as really stupid in the first place? I'm not sure on this, but I think it could be better if the nega traits were all as bad as each other.

Some nega traits have to compensate for more positive abilities. If really stupid werent as bad, trolls would be very underpriced, regeneration being very strong.

I see what your saying. I thought thats why they had always hungry, but I guess that isnt really that bad.

Always Hungry is really not even a nega-skill at all. In fact on the BB cost formula. Always Hungry is a 0k negaskill. ie having it for the player cost isn't consider being any worse than not having it.

Can I just point out my idea was just a throw-away thing off the top of my head. I haven't put any real thought into it.

Of course, if it ever comes official I take all the credit

It will make up for the article that someone posted on the NAF site with your idea for the Albions.

I think darksons idea is great. I agree with making the ogres negatrait more negative, but i don't want it to negative. I think a small change is needed and think this would do the trick. Great idea Darkson I think I may have to start playtesting this. :D

How about just making Bonehead a 3+ instead of a 2.
