New Skill: Heavy Armour

What would you guys think of adding a strength skill?
Heavy Armour (Strength Skill)
This player has gotten himself some better, and heavier, padding. Increase the player's AV by 1, but decrease his MA by 1.
The loss of MA differentiates it from Spikes, and it gives a way for any player to possibly gain +1 AV. Could be very useful on LoS players.

I'm already giving this as part of the price for winning the tournament this season.
I'm concerned that making it widely available might be a little too much, but playtesting could prove me wrong.

MA3, AV10, Guard, Mighty Blow Dwarves......<shiver>
Although they would have to push it just to Blitz an adjacent opponent when they are prone, it still seems a little over the top to me.
AV10 would be nice against those damned Pile On Big guys though

True, it would be gross on Longbeards, but then again with MA 3 you aren't going anywhere fast.

It wouldn't be any worse that AG 5 gutter runners with pass block, or the break tackle, block, tackle, mighty blow Chaos Warriors.

Make it a trait.

Well, I wanted to make it a skill, but if I made it a trait it would be a General trait. The point is to make it available to everyone.

I think if it's to be available to everyone Gen Trait is the way to go. That way you don't get any heavily armored goblins or halflings.

Such a trait would be great to keep Norse and Amazon strong in longer leagues.
I like it!

I wouldn't put it as trait alone maybe a combination of equiptment (has to be bought like secret weapons -although without penalty roll of course) and an special Heavy-Armour-skill ... wich should be put into strength category.
Effectively that would give some races a blocker position ...

I agree Relborn, this defiantley looks like a piece of equipment not a skill!

but you must be able to wear heavy armor dont you?some players just wouldnt manage to carry on playing with armor they are not accustomed to...so in a way it could be a skill

Khar-peth,
You could apply this too any secret weapon!
Chainsaw = You must be able too wield the chainsaw - SKILL
Deathroller = You must be able too drive - SKILL
Pogostick = You must be able too balance and bounce on it - SKILL
etc, etc, etc,
A piece of equipment cannot be learnt, you can learn too block, catch a ball, dodge from a player, pass a ball, kick a ball, etc, but you cannot learn too be heavy armour, you just wear it!

ok
wont get ironic anymore
no just kiddin..
so lets say its a trait because those armors need rare metal...say mithril...erm no...
anyway heavy armor should be a trait just because i cant imagine a whole goblin team with AV 8 for example
