Making cheerleaders vaguely useful
When was the last time you - or anyone you know for that matter - bought Cheerleaders for their team? You don't do you? They aren't worth it, especially if Treasury isn't counted towards TRR in your league (as is the case with mine).
Here's an idea I had while cycling home the other day, just wanted to run it up the flag pole and see if anyone salutes.
"At the start of each game, after the gate has been determined, roll a D6 for each cheerleader your team has. You may add 1 to your Fan Factor FOR THIS GAME ONLY for each 6 you roll."
Simple little rule that makes them possibly worth something, more so for teams who have been done over by the rule of 1 and 6 on fan factor rolls (something else my league dumped as daft after one season.)

There were a couple of longish threads on this about 6 months ago
Coaches -

and cheerleaders
viewtopic.php?t=1238
IIRC they had some pretty good ideas floated around

Yeah...and it appears I've had this idea before...
Ass. Coaches are another thing, but at least you accumulate them through retirements. You actually have to BUY cheeries. Hell, as it is at the moment I use mine as reroll counters.

Wouldn't the Amazons use male cheerleaders?Skummy wrote:I've always thought that Witch Elves and Amazons should have the option to retire as cheerleaders.

I suppose it depends on the mythos. If they're the kind of Amazons who;
Probably not.replenished their numbers by mating with men from other tribes, keeping the daughters and killing male infants...

I still like using the cheerleaders and assistant coaches to get a special play card for the match which are the rules the MBBL2 uses.
For every 2 cheerleaders, roll one D6. If you roll at least one 6, you get a Grab Bag card .... two or more 6s will get you a Random Event card.
For every 2 asst. coaches, roll one D6. If you roll at least one 6, you get a Pre-Match Prep card ... two or more 6s will get you a Dirty Trick instead.
Wizards can be used to get Magic Item cards.
This is how I allow all 5 of the special play card types still in the MBBL2.
And we definitely have players that purchase both cheerleaders and asst. coaches in the MBBL2 to try to get these benefits.
Galak
