Got a great idea and/or proposal for BloodBowl?

Vampires with no Negative trait

Post by voyagers_uk »

I must admit that I am not a fan of the Blood Lust - Off for a bite rules

They are historically either very weak or absolutely debilitating.

Now with the move to BH only it seems like they acknowledge they are wrong yet again and it is time to move on.

I would prefer to propose something else.

Vampires are a bit of an enigma, they are a lot of things but at the same time they are shrouded in myth and tales.

Vampires are mega strong
Vampires are super fast
Vampires are near impossible to kill
vampires are extremely clever.
Vampires can Hypnotise their enemies
Vampires can shift shape

The Super Fast would tend to lend itself to AG4, I say this rather than MA7/8 only because they are super fast over short distances only. They always seem to get caught in the long run.... By very old men carrying large sharpened pencils for some reason...

Vampires are extremely hard to kill, unless you know the knack - speaks of Regen.... but AV8

the Mega Strong and the Hypnotise seem to go hand in hand as they seem to have their way with hypnotised enemies and not so much with the Old men (see above)

My vision of a Vampire team is

0-6 Vampires 5 3 4 8 Regen;Hypno Gaze;Claw access to G/P/S/A/M 120k
0-2 Blitzers 6 3 3 8 Block access to G/S 90k
0-16 Linemen/Thralls 6 3 3 7 Access to G 40k
rerolls at 60k

so starting team would be potentially

4 Vamps = 480k
2 Blitzers = 180k
5 linemen = 200k
2 rerolls = 120k
20k on FF or assistant coaches

somewhat slow, but with potential to be agile and robust.

this way no Negative Trait just for one team that it fairly pointless in terms of longer leagues.

the Blitzers are not an after thought - they are in effect the lieutenants or most able body guards. without some Block this team are just a little too weak however longer term, they are probably more likely to be cut for TV sake.

I suspect this would be worse than the current vampire roster. Losing the strength and especially losing the movement would be far more detrimental to the team than bloodlust is.

Victim of the Colonel's car boot smash. First person to use Glynn's bath.
Update: the Hartlepool family Glynn now has a virgin bath.

The Blitzers could easily go to MA7 for no price hike in my thoughts

I think the whole ST4 AG4 starter is just wrong, but I am probably a lone voice in the wilderness.

not losing players to Bloodlust bites will help the team stay stronger on the pitch as well.

If Vampires are Mega-strong how come they are only normal human strength?

I must admit the ST & AG both being 4 makes for some problems but I think the current vampire team is functioning at about the right level.

I would argue that they are only Mega Strong in fiction when dealing with Hypnotised mortals... in actuality they are resiliant but as fragile as you or I

Heh.

Actually, you'll recall that Harker mentioned the iron grip of the count both when he was acting as coachman and during their first handshake; as well, Harker wasn't able to force open the main doors, they were so heavy, but the vampire had no problem at all, pushing them open or closed with a single arm.

was probably an illusion. Harker was pretty much bamboozled from first glance....

And the testimony of the carters around London that the foreign gentleman with the white moustache was able to unload his precious boxes with ease, while it took several men to unload one of them, and that the process, by the end of it, exhausted the workers while having no discernible effect on the strange man.

0-6 Vampires 6 4 4 8 Regen, Hypnotic Gaze, Animosity, Loner* GAS/P 110k
0-16 Dregs 6 3 2 8 G/SAP 40K
Rerolls 70K

*Loner (Extraordinary)
Loners, through inexperience, arrogance, animal ferocity or just plain
stupidity, do not work well with the rest of the team. As a result, a Loner
may use team re-rolls but has to roll a D6 first. On a roll of 4+, he may
use the team re-roll as normal. On a roll of 1-3 the original result stands
without being re-rolled but the team re-roll is lost

Eh...I'd prefer Bloodlust to Loner, even keeping in mind that the Vampires' statline would make failed rolls less frequent.

I am not alone in saying this- I like Vampires because of Bloodlust. The boom and bust nature of the team is really enticing.

Ditto, i play vamps in a league & the BL roll is always the high point of each turn, also (unlike loner) you can plan on failure by moving a thrall into the area you want the Vamp to end up in..

BL in itself doesnt break Vamp teams (much less now its only Badly hurt on Thralls) Av 7 breaks the team
