Taunt - as a card?

Got a great idea and/or proposal for BloodBowl?

Taunt - as a card?

Post by lerchey »

I've seen a number of attempts to get Taunt in as a skill, and no one has exactly hit the triple pow with it yet. What about maybe making it a card instead of a skill?

---
Dirty Tricks Deck
50,000 gold pieces

Name: Taunt
Description: A player on your team taunts a player from the

other team in one of his tackle zones. The verbal assault
so outrages the opposing player that he loses his temper and
lashes out against the taunter.

Timing: Play at the beginning of your turn before any player
takes an action.

Effect: The target of the taunt must immediately make a foul
action against the taunting player. All normal rules for the
foul apply including assist and being sent off on doubles for

armor or injury rolls. The taunting players turn starts after
the taunt and subsequent foul have been resolved.

Thoughts?

Okay, two things to tweak:

1. The taunting player, if knocked down, does not have tackle zones. I understand what you're after here. So substitute "adjacent".

2. Might need to specify that the target of the taunt needs to be upright, or has tackle zones, as otherwise he can't foul.

3. Performing a foul requires a recipient who is laying down. This card would seem to allow the foul to be performed regardless of the status of the recipient. I don't have a problem with that, but this should probably be specified.
A player on your team taunts a player from the
other team. The verbal assault so outrages the opposing
player that he loses his temper and lashes out violently.

Timing: Play at the beginning of your turn before any player
takes an action.

Target: An opposing player with a tackle zone that includes
one or more players of your own team.

Effect: The target of the taunt must immediately make a foul
action against an adjacent opposing player. All normal rules
for the foul apply including assist and being sent off on
doubles for armor or injury rolls, except that the recipient of
the foul may be either prone or upright.

The turn starts as normal after the taunt and subsequent foul
have been resolved.

Well. I clearly didn't think that all the way through. :) Ok, here's a second pass, done somewhat differently...

Dirty Tricks Deck
50,000 gold pieces

Name: Taunt
Description: A player (must be upright with tackle zones) on
your team taunts a player from the other team (must be adjancent,
upright and have tackle zones). The verbal assault
so outrages the opposing player that he loses his temper and
lashes out against the taunter.

Timing: Play at the beginning of your turn before any player
takes an action.

Effect: The target of the taunt must immediately make a block
action against the taunting player. All normal rules for the
block apply including assists. However, because the block
is done out before the scrimmage begins, any roll of doubles for
any armor or injury rolls will result in the blocking player being
sent off.

The taunting players teams turn begins after the taunt is
resolved.

I like it better. :)

"I'll Get You!" from the 3e Dirty Tricks deck? Maybe have it not cause a turnover? Or maybe have it usable at any time to force player A to block player B as his action? That would be cool.

"Ok, you moved your turn marker? Good. Here's a card. Your Catcher is blocking my Ogre!"

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.
