Human Blockers

Post by Master Wang »

Not really a new concept. I'm thinking of hunting down the figures to make a human team using old 2nd edition figures. I really like the blockers, but there is no such roster slot any more :( and I don't want to mix them in and just use them as linemen.

0-2 5 3 2 9 GS (AP) 70,000 GP

Not sure about the 0-2 or the price, it's not a must have piece on a team but would help humans survive in the ever more bashy world of Blood Bowl (and let me get those blockers).

Feedback?

Keep agility 3 (or make them move 6) and make them 60k. Then reduce the catchers slots to 0-2, actually this might be a good way to re-balance the human team.

The human team needs rebalancing?

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

80K Blitzers would do it.

But anyway, I like the idea of Human blockers in principle. They have been discussed many times before IIRC. The Human way is to use skills instead of stats to describe ability - eg. Thick Skull instead of AV9 etc.

Use them as lineman that got +AV or +ST. That would be cool!

Dont think that humans really need rebalancing but I think there is a general feeling they are slightly lacking in bash at higher TRs to be a true jack of all trades.

I thought of my own criticism - unfair on those with 3rd or 5th edition human teams because they lack the figures. I'd still like to see a blocker like figure though.

@ I doubt Nuffle loves me enough to solve the problem with +1 strength.

It was only think out loud. I have no idea when/if I'll try and get those figs and run a team.

I use an Impact! Desert Dog previously of Phil's Phigs as a Human Blocker.

0-2 5 3 2 9 Thick Skull GS for 60k or even 70k would be really nice. I don't think you even really need to take out the catchers, since taking more than 2 catchers really leaves the human team with a soft underbelly (so taking more of them balances itself out).

80k blitzers would be the first adjustment to make though (certainly if blockers were added at 70k). :P

How about this? Humans use skills rather than stats, so their Blockers should have Dauntless (stronger) and Thick Skull (tougher). That leaves them at 5338 Dauntless, TS for 70K.

I think stand firm may be better, gives a whole better idea of blocking the way. but it may have to be 80 or 90k, as stand firm is a lot more helpful than thick skull, but it would be nice to see them

How would this work with Options rules? What kind of 0-2 "blocker" model would be the best replacement (not necessarily substitute) player for an Ogre?

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Replacement for an Ogre? At 5 3 3 9 Stand Firm GS/AP 60k I think there's a piece I'd rather have 0-2 of instead of 0-1 Ogre. The extra guard on the line and extra AV is really useful.

2X guard and 2x grab, for example, would make those pieces nightmares for the opponent to deal with.

ALternately, I KNOW the following would be better than an Ogre:

4 3 2 9 Stand Firm, Block 60k. GS/AP

But 6 starting block players? Seems excessive for a human team, honestly.

Thats a 2nd look dwarf blocker, just trade tackle for SF and -10k.
I agree, 6 blocks to start are harsh
