Fouling: Yellow/Red Cards

Post by browwnrob »

Dont know if its been suggested before, but could provide the nerf to the fouling while still being effective for rempving opponents

Basicaly its LRB4 fouling rules except that when the ref spots it, the player is ejected as normal (red card) and any assisting players get a yellow card. Now yellow card could work in 2 ways;

1) Football (soccer if you like!). Collect 2 yellows and you get sent off
2) Rugby. Yellow card means sinbin, which means the offending players are placed in the reserves (could mean drastic pitch clearances if you risk a big gangfoul!), and would the players be allowed to gain multiple yellows in this case?

Would mean a little more bookkeeping, writing a Y on the roster sheet heh

Things im thinkig about...
- ATC, would each player about to get the yellow have to argue call? Would seem like a lot of rolling
- Would negative fouling assists also be penalised by rules lawyers?
- Is this too harsh?
- Id also think that GTR would need to be for a drive rather than for the half, but then again, would this increase the amount of stalling?

Main benefit of this idea is that it will help stop those teams who gangfoul (Khemri), by penalising them for gangfouling, but putting more emphasis on no assist fouls, or 1-2 assist fouls with fodder

Obviously its a very rough idea, but Im sure some of the smart folks here could think of improvements :D

I have only one question. Get all players that assist a foul get a yellow card even if the foul wasn't noticed? Then it is really harsh.

But when the get a yellow card when the fouler is cought. It should be only happen in rare cases that some player assist the foul.

In general I like the idea.

if you wanted to "soccer-ize" it then you should randomly roll for each player involved in the incident and send of the first to roll a 6 even if they didn't actually perform the action.

I would take the Rugby-Version, but you should throw a dice, if they get a yellow card (It is one thing to throw out one lineman, but it is another thing to tell a bunch of freaking psychos to leave the field)

Regardng the yellow card concept, would they carry over into the next match or not? I know they do in real soccer...

I would change the gang foul thing as well to a roll of a 4+ to get sent to reserves if the original fouler is sent off. OR perhaps a roll of a 6 to send off the assister as well.

yes, it would be in effect for when the ref spots the foul

Make another roll in place of GTR.

On a 1-3 the result is "Let 'em Play!" - for both teams having the eye on you only results in a +1 modifier to being sent off as the ref doesn't mind some "physical" play.

On a 4-6 the result is "Hey, Look at Me!" - for both teams having the eye on you results in a +3 modifier to being sent off as the ref want to be the star of this match.

Hmmm... of course officiating like that never happens in real life.

Right, you could also call this the Graham Poll result

I was under the impression that the current rules already nerfed fouling. It's not that prevelant, is it? The yellow card rule seems like so much effort that noone would want to foul. We don't need something that will slow this game down anymore that it already is, do we?

And at every TD roll a D6, on a 1 the TD is disallowed. Start a new drive. Should help against stalling Khemri

I'm liking this too...

If you roll doubles and fail to get through AV you get ejected... for "fouling"
If you roll doubles and get through AV you get MNG... for "unsportsmanlike conduct"

Make sneaky git...
If you roll doubles and fail to get through AV you avoid ejection (same as it is now)
If you roll doubles and get through AV you get ejected... for "fouling"

Make the proposed "Biased Ref" Inducement to read "all ejections due to fouling are MNG". Even players with Sneaky git are spotted by this eagle eyed chap!
No Change to Bribes.

Ooohh... have a Ref with an Axe! If he sees a fouler, he hits him!

If you get caught fouling, roll on the Casualty table for the fouler straight away. Afterwards, feel free to argue the call.

If you really want to "football" it (the kind where the foot and the ball actually intersect on a regular basis, as opposed to the kind that Blood Bowl is modeled on), have a skill called Diving Hypochondriac, where any time an opponent enters your TZ, your player falls prone, holding his shin and wailing like a schoolgirl. Roll 2d6; on doubles, you fool the Ref, causing the moving player to be ejected.

Actually with streetbowl there is a chance to get injured after fouling as the crowd is looking for vengence and starts to throw bottles. Would be fun to have that in normal BB as well.
