new skill: Insight (G)

A player with this skill has the ability to "read" the game to predict where plays are developing and be 1 step ahead of their opponent.
At the end of your turn but before the start of your opponent's turn this player can freely move 1 square if he is not in an opponent's tackle zone or holding the ball. The free move can be used to enter an opponent's tackle zone.

My intention was to add a skill which gives a player a little bit more control over the game since it allows you to move after a turnover has occured (of which you don't know exactly when it will occur). It can also be used to some extent to help offset skills like side step and fend.
thoughts? comments? insults?

sounds interesting, But I would make a die roll nessesary like a 2+ or something to be able to do this and maybe end up prone (no armour roll) in the square you intended to go to if you roll a 1

I really like the sound of this, but agree with bouncergrim that without a dice roll, it would be too good.

Cheers

Love it ... sounds like a great addition. However, I'm not sure it would be overpowered without a dice roll. After all, it can easily be countered (just put a TZ on the player), which means that you'll be unlikely to be able to use it when it really matters (e.g. to catch a break away ball carrier). Also, if you take it you aren't taking Block, Guard, Tackle etc...

Don't like it at all and would never add it to my league. Turnover is probably the great innovation that made the game playable and any mitigation of the prospect of sudden disaster is not something I'd want to see.

Make it so it only works if there is a turnover. If the turn ends normally, there are no unforseen circumstances to forsee (otherwise all the skill does does is add 1 MV to the player)

And I would think this sort of phychic ability would be a mutation or an extraordinary skill.

Hey. I don't want to punch Father911 in the face. Put this day down on your calendars everyone.

I think Father has a good idea there. I'm not sure that's necessary but I can see it. I don't think the die roll is necessary either.

Maybe we can get MLA's league to playtest this. He's highly critical of it so I think he'd be a good person to give in put on it.

It is now officially "Snew doesn't want to punch Father in the face day". Everyone wear purple bandanas to celebrate.

Does anyone want to start the poll, Who should Snew punch in the face today? Would I be the only one voting for Snew? :D

I see what you're saying but it could lead to a whole lot of extra die-rolling each turn. I don't think it's necesary to add the roll btw, I can't imagine a situation where it would be overpowering.
The uses where I see it:
* "nuisance players" with skills like shadow, guard, tentacles or diving tackle: wait till the last moment whether you actually want to risk your ass marking that bad boy (possibly even choosing which player to mark)
* throwers and receivers: missed the catch/pass, move a free square to try to pick up the ball anyway

I hardly think this skills would ever be a first pick...

Insight isn't really a mutation IMHO if you've played a real sport against a veteran team, well they always seem to be at the right place at the right time, they can read the game. That's where I got the idea.

Me too, but having it happened only on TO could make it move than just a poor man's +1 MV.
