Alternate Aging Rules

I have a long running solo league using all my painted teams. As I have added teams there has grown to be a great disparity between the new sides and the old hands, a disparity that cannot be handled by the handicap table alone. So I decided to tinker with the star player aging rules. First of all, I hate it when a player loses a stat point, but I accept it, but there are other ramifications for a player getting famous and older.
When a star player advances roll a d6, on a six you must roll on the new BloodNole aging table:
2d6
2: Oh my aching bones. -1 AV
3: Too many tendon strains. -1AG
4: Too many shots to the head, player now provisionally Boneheaded. Before each game roll a d6, on a 5 or 6 player is boneheaded for that game.
5: Niggling Injury
6: Lockerroom Cancer. Player becomes a prima donna and is causing problems for the team (see Terrel Owens for example) team loses d3 re-rolls immediatley.
7: Just Gimme the Damn Ball. Player becomes selfish. Player can no longer throw to, handoff, receive a pass or hand off from, guard or assist on a block with one randomly determined player on his own team.
8: I Am The Greatest. A series of assine public pronouncements by the player alienates the team's fans. Team loses d4 fan factor immediatley.
9: If The Glove Doesn't Fit, You Must Acquit. The player commits some sort of legal offense that he will doubtlessly be acquitted of, but it will cost time and money. Player must miss the next d3 games and the team must spend d6+2 (x10,000) gold on attorneys.
10: Niggling Injury
11: Slowing down in my old age. -1MV
12: Fell afoul of new steroid testing. -1ST

more interesting than the old aging.
Different aging roles should reduce the player's contribution to TR to avoid immediate, termination (of contract)

Good ideas! I especially like the "provisionally Boneheaded" result. It harkens back to First and Second Edition players who could become Punch Drunk, with much the same results!

Interesting. I like the steroids one, fits the current baseball climate. He should get a niggling and a str down on that one, lol.

I like the idea. However:
2) Why is -1 AV less likely than -1 AG, and just as likely as -1 ST? If you think about it, -1 MV and -1 AV are the best results for an ageing chart because they do not mean automatic retirement (like losing AG or ST can), and that is actual what happens when a player gets old ... he slows down and becomes more injury prone.
3 & 10) Why is the chance of getting a niggling injury so high? I know it isn't compared to the proper Ageing table, but niggles are the problem with that table ... they mean retirement. In fact, niggles have been changed in the new rules.
6) Lose D3 re-rolls permanently? Wow.

That is potentially 420,000 gc of re-rolls I need to win back. So much worse than any other result on the table, and it is one of the most common!
7) Fantastic idea.

8 ) Lose FF? No thanks.
My Ageing rules would look like this:
A player automatically ages when he gets his fifth, sixth and seventh Star Player rolls. Roll on the chart below to see how this effects him:
2D6:
2) -1 AG
3) Loner
4) Niggle (the new kind - +1 to any further Injury roll)
5-6) -1 AV
7) Niggle (the new kind)
8-9) -1 MV
10) Niggle (the new kind)
11) Bonehead
12) -1 ST

Stop using ageing all together. It's just a lame concept and I don't miss it. besides, I find BB is more fun when the teams aren't to developed....

Maybe change it so that ream loses d3 rerolls only while this players is still on the team )then it'll be exactly like the TO locker room scenario

). It poses an interesting dilemma for the coach regarding his star vs team performance. Similar comment on #8.
I loathed aging in general (much rather my player got outright squished than aged due to performing well), but a fun fluffy chart like the above would be neat to try as a house rule. I especially like the non-stat related ideas like #6 through #9. Maybe I just follow the NFL too closely, but it would give me a chuckle to see similar ego-driven scenarios in a a BB locker room.

I like Lockerroom Cancer, but think that player should suffer from Loner permanently, instead of the losing d3 re-rolls. I know that losing the re-rolls hurts the whole team, but it also takes a serious chunk out of the teams TV helping it out a little with inducements.

I would like to see a termination of the contract as the worst case of ageing.. Early retirement.

I agree - though I do aging very differently, I'm in the process of poaching the quirks from
http://www.friedgold.co.uk/altbbligp.htm and making them fit my needs as players with personalities is a good thing.
