New skill ideas

Post by Geoff Watson »

Utter Bastard (General Skill)
The team may make two Foul actions per turn. At least one of the Foul actions must be done by a player with the Utter Bastard skill.

Blitzer (General Trait)
The team may make two Blitz actions per turn. At least one of the Blitz actions must be done by a player with the Blitzer skill.

Ball Expert (Passing Skill)
The team may make two Hand Off actions per turn. At least one of the Hand Off actions must be done by a player with the Hand Off skill.

What do you think?
Blitzer might be too good. Maybe require the team to discard a reroll to use it?
Utter Bastard would be too good if 'Get the Ref' happens.

Geoff.

Definately not as regular skills. They should all be traits at the very least. I think all of them would severely disrupt things, especially with the upcoming PBBL rules where TRs, sorry TVs, are going to be limited.

I do like the idea of the Ball Expert, it's going to increase ball mobility. I'm just afraid that it will mostly be used on teams that don't have a mobility problem to start with. Perhaps change it to allowing a handoff without ending movement. Just run by a player, hand it off (roll 2+ not to fumble before making the catch roll), and move on. That way it will be useful for any team with passing access.

The Blitzer Trait and Utter Bastard skill you mentioned are just way too powerfull IMO.

Suicidal (Agility Trait): This player when thrown by a team mate can be targeted at an occupied square and counts as getting +1 to the Armour Roll for the force although the Player is automatically KO'd and on a 3+ becomes a Casaulty (roll which type)

Who would take this skill? With this kind of drawback, you won't be able to throw him more than 2-3 times in his entire life, because his life will be very short. This would be a real waste of a double.

Why? ... the PBBL rules already allow you now to target squares with players in them.

Just bounced off a Norse lineman in the game I'm playing right now ... he KO'd ... me prone. Stood up ... dodged away ... got a TZ on the ball.

Sounds familiar, I KO'd Norse's Norse Thrower, stood up, picked up the ball and stalled for a turn before scoring the 2-1

How about this?

Expert Handler: (Passing)
You may attempt to declair an additional hand off action with this player in a turn. This hand off action does not count as the hand off action for the turn. Roll a dice: on a 4+ this player may take the additional hand off action, otherwise his action is lost and he may do nothing.
