Demon Bowl

Post by ironmodem »

My friend Flux and I were thinking about developing a Demon Bowl version of BB, I'm sure it mentions in some fluff somewhere about BB catching on in the daemonic realms. Anyway, just imagine the carnage of all demon teams with demon skill sets, magic (and magic secret weapons) etc... Froth, it would be Chaos!

Or how about a Mega City 1 version, Grud Bowl? :lol:

"he plays like a demon" article mentioned it right? I'd spend my cash on it all right. Imagine nurglings scampering down the pitch much like snotlings..... :D

Aha! Found one reference, it's in the 2nd Edition Hand Book;

"...Blood Bowl is now a truly international phenomena, regularly watched by countless numbers of Humans, Orcs, Elves, Ogres, Dwarves, Trolls, Goblins, Halflings and many more esoteric viewers besides. Just how many watch and play the game is difficult to determine, because it is so widespread. It's even been claimed that the game has penetrated the lower levels of the Astral and Demonic Planes; maybe in a few years we shall witness exchange teams of Hell Demons and Elementals joining all the regulars of Blood Bowl!..."

There is also a reference (in the same book) to an Elder Demigod pressing the wrong button at a crucial moment, thereby accidently transporting the Chaos All Stars (and a sports journalist) to another plane of existence.

Not to mention that as Cabal Vision uses the Astral plane as a transmission medium, it is quite likely that various Demonic entities are aware of, or indeed playing the game of Blood Bowl!

Hopefully we'll start soon but alas I have a lot on my plate at the moment, both BB and non BB related. I've got yet another commercial website to design, a BB league to get on its feet, I've just started to get into mini sculpting and I'm painting three teams all at once (undead, skaven and orcs). Phew! Nonetheless I'm going to make a concerted effort to get this idea off the ground, however there are a few things to decide upon before I start playing with stats.
One question is whether or not "Demon Bowl" (or whatever we decide to call it) will be designed to integrate with "normal" BB teams. If this is the case then I will have to be careful not to overpower/underprice the demonic/elemental players. If we decide to represent a seperate league based in an astral/demonic plane then we can up the stats and create balanced teams that would nonetheless crush normal teams.
A forseen problem with upping stats would be the fact that the pitch would most likely have to be much larger to compensate for the OTS (One Turn Score) overload. It also seems silly not to intergrate, as this idea is far more an expansion concept as oposed to a complete overhaul/new game.
Also, the fluff I quoted in my earlier post hinted at the potential for exchange teams in some kind of cross dimensional, cross league championship...

Right that settles it, the stats for the demons/elementals are going to balance with normal teams. However this is only the case when demons/elementals are playing this side of the warp. I could introduce a system whereby experienced teams can play away (in a demonic realm), where the demons are far more powerfull. How does that sound?

One guy at the Deathbowl had his version of Demonbowl on display, but I don't think he posts here (only on NAF site), it did look cool though. 4 way deathbowl set up with each Chaos god represented, looked iinteresting and each team seemed balanced out with having the same amount of Major/minor demaons, etc.
