'Proper' Chaos Team
Hi guys,
I just wondered how many other people out there would actually like to see a 'proper' Chaos team rather than a mismash of Beastmen and Warriors. I'm not talking about Daemons either. I mean good old Humans who worship Chaos. Marauders are a prime example of this.
In my league I'm going to take the basic human team but paint them up as Chaos and create a fitting background, but I'd love to see rules for proper chaos humans and the opportunity to let them mutate over time like a proper Chaos team.
I know I'm a little Chaos crazy (have been for years), but, is it just me? Would you like to play a proper Chaos Human team as well?
One very simple (house) rule I thought of was to take the Human roster, increase the re-rolls to 70K and let people have access to mutations on a double roll as normal. I haven't thought this through obviously!
The 2nd Ed Star Players book details Chaos Humans as a Blood Bowl race, but as far as I can tell they just let you play normal human figs with suitably dirty colour schemes to represent them.
*sigh*

at the homegrounds tourney we ran, a lad did a chaos team and he had the same prob as you genno
so we let him take maruaders as beastmen, otherwise they were exatly the same (afterall, they got horns on their helmets!)

Yeah I really think the Chaos representatives are pretty sad in Blood Bowl. In every other GW game the Choas "team" is brutal. In Blood Bowl they seem very watered down. I'd really like to see the Warriors given a little boost, some Thugs added, and maybe a big guy Spawn.
The little boost for the Chaos Warriors could be something as little as allowing one of them to start with a random mutation. (call him Team Capt. or something). The Thugs should be similar to human linemen, and the spawn should really powerful but uncontrollable.

I don't think that Chaos teams aren't brutal in BB. I am playing a game against a chaos team in MBBL2, it is kicking my ass properly.
With Str 4, Chaos Warriors are pretty brutal (and access to strength and physical skills).

My take is:
Add a 'Thug' -position to the chaos team list with allowance of 0-12
Thug is 6 3 3 8 - Gen, Phys skills
Even though people hate special rules, I say:
They should get a random mutation on a '7'.
Then there would be a position for the chaos mutant star players also.
-----
about the other idea:
Normal human team with phys access is a bit too much, they need to be handicapped somehow - I'd say drop the catcher position altogether - which would, IMO, suit chaos humans just fine.

excuse me?
Im not sure what you mean here, but at the time when BB 3rd ed came out, wich was before 5th ed i think, chas armies included both beastmen and warriors. and they ALL did, becuase beastem had 2 wounds back then, and T 4 i think... so thats why the old BB team has warriors and beastmen, because the marauders didnt exist.Trambi said
Yes you are right but in WH Battle Beastmen and Chaos Warrior are not from the same army. The old chaos team is not really good due to this fact.
Look at the norse, GW has decided to bring them back (i gather they existed a long, long time ago in WHFB) but they make up the marauders, who are only a recent addition to the chaos armies.
and the old warrios/beastman appraoch will still be valid, as Gav points out in the opening of the new chaos army list there will be a beastman list that goes with the current chaos book...

chaos teams are pretty nasty as is. Think about it. Chaos is the ONLY team where everyone has access to ST skills. Warriors are one of the most well rounded players in the game statistically. And IMO the absolute best ST player. Fast, Agile, and Strong, with the ability to mutate.
Then beastmen are one of the better lineman types. Human lineman stats, only +1ST on the blitz which is HUGE in early games, and still a big deal as teams progress. And access to mutations and ST skills.
They have serious potential to be a horribly nasty team. Now granted, they're not as good as the current edition of the Chaos army in Fantasy, but then I'm thinking of getting out of WH Fantasy for that very reason. The new chaos list is entirely too good...unbeatable if the general has a brain cell.
