Ogre teams

Post by Thadrin »

Do new Ogre minis mean a new Ogre team could be coming?
If so, we need a roster that will be suitably hopeless to reflect the background, yet still allow the things that make Ogres so interesting to shine through.
Here's my suggestion:

0-8 Ogre Lineman 4/5/1/8 Mighty Blow, Bonehead, TTM. (St) 90k
0-4 Ogre Blitzer 5/5/2/9 Mighty Blow, Bonehead, TTM. (Ge,St) 120k
Rerolls 70k

Basicly a team that can make you hurt, but is going to have some trouble moving the ball...especially with Linemen who can't take General skills!Criticisms etc.?

Probably change the lineman to a blocker and bump his armour up to 9,and cost him at 100k, but I like the look of it, and am waiting for the minis to come out.

Is there a time-scale for the mini's?

Hmm.. could it work to play an Ogre team? I mean have anyone ever tried with the older rules? About two boneheads per turn, but it will hurt meeting this team anyway! Especially when they get a few skills. Scoring is going to be hard as you said. Best wipe the other team out first. :)

One thing with this is that you will not be able to have a full 11 man squad. You may need to add a small guy to the team - Human, Orc or something to bulk it out.

3rd ed Big guy teams are allowed a max of 8 on pitch.

Yep, 8 on pitch max. I have a friend who fielded an ogre team against my CD's. I won 3-0. Bonehead on all your guys is really harsh!

Ogre team rules and the minis are scheduled for release in 2003 per Andy on the GW forum.

Yep, you'd probably need some smaller players on the roster to make it work.

Chet seems to be hinting again. Will we ever get a straight answer out of any of these Rulz Gurus?

why do you need smaller player's to make it work. I think it's not supposed to work! They are supposed to only think about hitting the other team's player, not do something as whimpy as picking up the ball!

why do you need smaller player's to make it work. I think it's not supposed to work!

It shouldn't "work" in the "successful" sense. It should "work" in the sense that it shouldn't require any of the following:

1. Different rules for maximum player size
2. Different rules for the maximum number of players on the field
3. Higher amounts of starting money to create the team
4. Severe fudging of player costs to make 11 players a good starting possibility

And no, you're not going to get much of a straight answer out of us. If you know someone with a good memory who was at Resurrection, they might be able to take some guesses :)
