This was discussed at an ABBA league evening and considered as funny, but maybe it has it's merits as well. What do you guys say:
In the old days, I remember them well, you could assist a treeman to stand up, giving him a +1 for every assist, but failure remained on the 1.
I would like to see that rule rule reïnstated, BUT with a large risk for the assists.
1. Assisting a treeman to stand up is an action. You can not move before lending an assist, unless you use your blitz to do so.
2. Every assist you lend a treeman must be announced in advance. Not every player standing next to the treeman needs to lend an assist.
3. Every announced assist will give the treeman a +1 bonus for standing up in addition to his 4+ roll. A die roll of 1 always means a failure.
4. Failing a stand up roll will not result in a turn-over, but the actions of the assisting players still stand. They can do nothing else that turn. (They do keep their tacklezones and lend assists in the next opposing turn!)
5. Now the fun bit. If the treeman fails to get up he falls down on one of the assisting players randomly (that is why the assists have to be announced). Make an injury roll for the hit player immediatly. No APO is allowed, because the injury will be final before the treeman can be rolled aside enough to reach the player.
Of course for the sake of the game the treeman stays in it's place and is not moved to to square where the assisting player lies. Otherwise it would make to much mess of the game.
What do you think?
