I voted once each half as this seems to be the fairest way to make them bite a bit more.
I also wouldn't mind the -1 AV idea although I quite like the fluff of a niggle.
Once a few niggles are accumulated they do begin to bite, our resident Lizardman team has about 5 and is starting to retire players at about 25 games and TR 210 ish.
That coach at the moment would prefer -1 MA or AV to a niggle.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

Technically he isn't. Do the math. He's missing about 1 in 6 games either way. (see, he could come back in faster too...)Deathwing wrote:'Every drive' would surely impact the ball control teams less than the speed merchants. I don't see why a niggled Gutter Runner should be missing more than a niggled Longbeard.

I voted each half, but i wouldn't mind seeing it a bit more harsh then that though 50% sounds like to much who knows where the happy middle is. I do think it could use a change as I look at players with nigglings and don't really consider retiring them unless they are young and don't have many spps.

I voted for keeping NI the same, although I am willing to look at the "every half" idea.
Actually, I just had a thought (fancy that, eh?). Perhaps the current rule could be kept, except that if the player has more than one Niggle, instead of rolling multiple times, just make the single roll that much tougher. The current rule states that the player misses the game on a roll of 1 on 1d6. My idea is, if a player has 2 NI the coach must roll 3+ to avoid missing the game, for 3 NI the roll would be 4+, and so on. Then you wouldn't have to bother rolling once each half, AND the player would become less valuable and more likely to suddenly be wearing a baseball cap and carrying a clipboard (IE become an assistant coach)!
Just as a side note, my league uses a rule where a player who has suffered two "Gouged Eye" results on the Serious Injuries Table must retire, as they no longer have any good eyes (or any eyes whatsoever); the player could be made an Assistant Coach as normal. It hasn't happened yet, but the possibility is there...

Okay, my fourth post. Won't take me long to catch up to Galak at this rate ...
A fun alternative, albeit one that would involve much more die rolling, would be to determine the type of NI. Maybe this could be done by rolling on the SI table but just making a note of which stat was hurt. Then, if he rolls a 1 for his NI the player could still play in the game but would have a -1 to that stat for the duration. Next game, he'd be fine ... unless he rolled a 1 for his NI again. This would involve more paperwork too. Bad Raven, bad!
I voted No, by the way.
