Well you missed the part where I said he's automatically the head coach. So you don't HAVE to buy him...he's like an undead necromancer.Torg wrote:That's an interesting idea, but there would have to be more to the runesmith's power or it wouldn't make much sense to buy one as wizards don't seem to be used as much as they used to IMO.

K, fine...Redfang wrote:Though I like the game mechanic he proposes, I don't like this idea fluff-wise (again); Runesmiths are few, and probably rather busy overall; though they might find time to help out a team occasionally it wouldn't make sense letting them coach one...Wesleytj wrote:i think what they need is that their head coach automatically be a runesmith.

Each Dwarf team's head coach is given a magical rune of magic resistance by a runesmith, who is himself too busy to run the team...

Think of it as their way of protecting the legacy of Roze-El, that blind dwarven seer who first discovered the rules of Blood Bowl
Better? Does that fit with your fluff sensibilities?

The magic resistence of the Dwarf Runesmith seems a good idea, but I would probably keep him as a freebooted mage in that case.
Back to the notion of the alchemist, I would say a price of about 100k and the ability to reroll the winnings die (second result stands even if worse - Gold INTO lead you IDIOT!!!!!
) This may be a little to powerful, I'm not sure but I thought of it just now and thought to put it out there for discussion. If too powerful would 150k be a better cost.
As an aside I would apply 150k to the Master Chef and allow him to remain a permanent addition to the Halflings. If that were true then the alchemist being able to be permanent would be less of a stretch as these two teams (and Undead) already represent a difference in this area of the rules.

That Slayer King (Ungrim Ironfist) has two oaths colliding; one is his oath as a King, which forces him to wear armour and protect himself, the other is his oath as a Slayer (or actually his great grandfathers oath as slayer) which forces him to recklessly seek death in combat. He can never fulfill both, and has to keep to them as good as posible...Pariah wrote:Well that Slayer King wears armour. At least a helmet and a dragon scale cape.

I don't see any problem with the Runesmith ideas (seeing as I was one of the first to come up with the idea) - there are NO balance problems, as the characteristic gains would only last for the game. No worse than having a played Frogged and killed. Not really keen on the "+1 to winnings" rule though. The freebootering mechanic is a good one.

So an oath to a Blood Bowl team is meaningless?Redfang wrote:That Slayer King (Ungrim Ironfist) has two oaths colliding; one is his oath as a King, which forces him to wear armour and protect himself, the other is his oath as a Slayer (or actually his great grandfathers oath as slayer) which forces him to recklessly seek death in combat. Who ever said that a slayer makes an oath to a BB team? And further; who ever said that this oath included doing stuff he really doesn't want to do...

I think they would play to win, but they wouln't dress to win...
That's just my view on slayers; they're too individualistic to ever be real team players. Also they first made the oath to become a slayer, and after that the one to become a BB player. That last oath could be adjusted for them...

Or maybe Slayers on the BB world take different oaths to the Slayers on the Warhammer world?
It's official, JJ wants to move the BB world away from the WH world, so don't get so uptight about fluff which is "directly" involved in the game.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.
