I like this idea, but I don't think the chances of adding another SPP category into the official rules are good.
However, modifying the current rules might be more acceptable than adding. So here's my suggestion:
Interception is renamed and will award 2 SPP if the player does one of the following two:
- Successfully intercepts a pass
- Knocks down the ball carrier, AND picks up/catches the ball during the course of a single action
According to the wikipedia article on American Football, the name for this should be "Turnover", but that might be confusing in BB.

This is an interesting idea.
I would like to add that not just agi4 players benifit from leap/strip ball. My last undead team had a wight with pro, leap, strip ball, tackle and sure hands. He was deadly. Looking back, he would have had alot more points with sacks.
I do see yet another advantage for wardancers. Sacks would give them another easy way to skill up considering their starting skills, just needing 1 skill up for strip ball.
Other than that, it looks interesting and looks to add a little extra to the game. I'm all for it.
I just realized how much I hate wardancers.

True - any time one team starts with the ball and involuntarily (i.e. INT or fumble, not punt or kickoff) ends the play with the other team having the ball is a turnover in football. BUT, what Rune was describing sounds more like a forced fumble and recovery . . .kharnagex wrote:A sack isn't necesarily a turnover.
A fumble as a result of a sack or an interception, or anytime a ballcarrier drops the ball for whatever reason is a turnover.
. . . so one could award 2 SPP for an Interception or Fumble Recovery, but there's already something else in BB that's referred to as a Fumble.Rune wrote:- Knocks down the ball carrier, AND picks up/catches the ball during the course of a single action
So maybe it could just be referred to as a Takeaway. We do occasionally refer to giveaways and takeaways in football (though less commonly used than "turnover"), after all.

This has received almost immediate approval from my league, given the weight this kind of stat gets in NFL. Players make their whole career being the guy who "stops the run/pass" with "X" sacks in the regular season alone etc.
it will give weight to some of the seldom used tactical skills like shadowing, diving tackle and wrestle
not certain if it is worth 1 or 2 Spp's but no need to add a column just eithe r add to completions of Interception.
in fact thinking about it from that perspective it belongs with INT as the run stopper as opposed to Pass Block.
we may even start testing tonight.

I know next to nothing of American Football, so I get a bit confused by all this terminology. But Takeaway sounds good to me.DaFoola wrote:So maybe it could just be referred to as a Takeaway. After giving it some thought I think I'd reformulate it like this:
If, at the beginning of a player's action, an opposing player is in possession of the ball, a Takeaway is awarded if any player on the player's own team gets possession of the ball during the action.
In other words, he doesn't have to pick the ball up himself, if a team member catches it.
