Again, why? Someone explain it to me why it's acceptable for races that hate each others guts to play BB in a WFB-ish setting, but not in a 40k setting?Hangus wrote:Agreed probably the wrong attitute in my first post, but it is a bit silly
Obviously, I've no wish to see a WFB-based and 40k-based game mixed (bar the MBBL2 Cyborks), but why all the negativity towards a sports-game with 40k races?
If it had been 40k that JJ had chosen to base BB on 20 years ago, and someone suggested WFB, would you still put it down?

Which is probably why it's in the "Other Internet concept" teams page, and not in the "MBBL2-allowed" page. Plus it does sayKommando wrote:0-1 Carnifex 160,000 S 4 6 1 10 Claw, Thick Skull, Stand Firm, Razor Sharp Claws
like, um, no? that bloodbowl.net roster is insane!
"Ed. Note: The Tyranid big guys haven't been modified with negative skills & lowered stats as per Jervis' suggestions. As such, they're still underpriced & overpowered. You may want to tweak them some or remove them entirely."

sure would, fantasy football just sounds silly when compared to ROKKIT BOWL.darkson wrote:If it had been 40k that JJ had chosen to base BB on 20 years ago, and someone suggested WFB, would you still put it down?
darkson: yeh, but neither lowered stats nor a negatrait could ever justify RSC+Claw on a rookie player.

what so Nids playing against khemri? that i do not agree with. IF BB had been in a 40k universe then fine but its not so why mix the two?
If it had been in 40k i would have still played it, but it would be a different game probably Speedball-ish. Someone should do a version there ie like the streetball / beachbowl style variations.
I do not agree with mixing the two thats all, NOT the fact a variation would be good or IF it had been 40k orientated it would be crap. I personally do not like the mixing genres and think it is 'silly', but that me.

Well, that's not the impression your "silly silly silly 40k is 40k" quote gives.Hangus wrote:I do not agree with mixing the two thats all, NOT the fact a variation would be good or IF it had been 40k orientated it would be crap. So do I but Tyranids really are the worst (and very silly).Hangus wrote:I just get annoyed with the wild west, Kroot, Robots, Space Marine teams.
I mean they only exist to munch their way through a planet's life forms, all of them, right down to the bacteria. And then strip away all the planets minerals before moving on to the next one. There is no culture of spectator anything with this Xenos within which a sport like BB would make sense on any level. For the other team's fans to simply survive the game they'd have to gun down every Tyranid fan and the Tyranid team and the Tyranid team's biobus not to mention whatever they made planet fall on and the Hive ship that got them there.
If we get Tyranids playing BB then it's only a matter of time until we get Orks doing ballet...
[The other 40k races fine but not Tyranids, not even in a 'wacky' universe.]

Sure, and an Empire city will willingly allow 1000's of Chaos worshippers inside the city walls because they're fans.

Well in the BB world where there is no war, only football...
And in the current WFB world the Chaos Marauders aren't constantly trying to kill everyone in the Empire, they also trade with them too.
Back in the old days when all a Chaos warband did was constantly fight others in the Chaos wastes and never had to worry about such mundane stuff as feeding and clothing themselves then sure, a city of the Empire would have been nuts to let them in. But that version of Chaos Humans wouldn't have been interested in BB, would they.
But the basic point is that they all enjoy a culture that allows them to participate in a team sport. They have a concept of winning that isn't simply killing and eating everything in sight that isn't a Tyranid and not getting shot up in the process. They can look at a football and see "a ball" rather than simply a non threatening inanimate object to be eaten by the appropriate Tyranid.

So you can happily suspend your disbelief when it comes to a sports game in a WFB setting, but you can't do it for a 40K race.
Personally, I can't se the difference. Chaos want to kill and destroy. 'Nids want to kill and eat. Neither in the mainstream setting want to "play". But put Chaos in an alternative universe, and hey, let's play ball. So why not with 'Nids, Space Marines, etc?
Sorry, but to me that's as bad an attitude as the historical Wargamers that get mad becasue you've painted a units cuffs in the wrong shade of red.

I agree with all the above ... except the Robot team from the MBBL2 ... found that to be a fun team and we think of it along the lines of Gnomish creations than futuristic robots.Hangus wrote:It is silly but i should have said why.
