i think it will work great. don't like the name's tho. Plus incorporating the 'alternate' stat line for werewolves is fun and think i'm coming over to it.

I'd like us to come up with some better names than blitzer, catcher and lineman.

catcher should be called werewolf since it's the same as necro team...no need to cause more confusion.

Code: Select all

0-12 Werekin   70k   6 3 3 8  Frenzy {G}
0-4  Werewolf   120k  8 3 3 8  Claw, Catch, Frenzy {G,A}
0-2  Were Hunter  120k  7 4 2 8  Break Tackle, Frenzy {G,S}
rerolls = 70k
Or Enforcer for the blitzer. From playing Rage ... the idea of a Were that cleans up those who are out of line leads me these names for the ST 4 Were.

were there any cool names from underworld for were's? I remember deathdealers for the vamps...maybe we can pull a name from there.

i do like hunter more than enforcer.

Definitly change the names. If you say "catcher" people expect catch dodge etc... The current WW is *not* a catcher, but he fills that role. A catcher with RSF while the blitzer lacks it is stupid...make them different types and its less silly.

Again, why 70K instead of 60K for the Linos/kin?

Neither norse, high elf or elf catchers have dodge. IMO, catch is the defining skill for a catcher.

Plus, I called mine "Runners", so I don't know where this catcher debate has come from. :D

But do we really need a 5th undead team? :wink:
Grrr... I know you're kidding, but thanks for reminding me how much I hate having werewolves on the zombie team. They may be nocturnal and scary, but that doesn't make them undead by any stretch of the imagination, and having two non-undead player types on an undead team is just daft.

Anywho, add another vote to Nazgit's team suggestion from me. How about Werebeast as a name for the ST4 blitzer? Or something involving slayer would sounds nice as well.

What about replacing it with a Werebear? Or use it as a BG? Stand Firm, Mighty Blow.

i hate to rain on the parade, because i love the concept of this team, but it has a few issues.

I've played this team in about six games, three of which were league. I've noticed that it has some serious balance problems.

1) ANY official or experimental team that gives the same skill to every unit on the team list gives none of it's positions more than 7 armor or 6 move. Now, you can argue that frenzy is more of a curse than a blessing, but you'd be wrong, considering that i'd take it if i got the extra move and armor anyday, and it basically means anyone you play has to stay three squares from the out of bounds lines or face a pretty certain injury roll.

2) In the 2004 Bloodbowl Annual, the Werewolf's Claws were changed back to Razor Sharp Fangs.

3) During testing i've found that playing this team with the stats on this post makes you ridiculously powerful if you roll anywhere near average. It's only problem is that you can't afford rerolls for a long time. but in a league, cost is never that prohibitive, since you'll eventually amass enough money to buy everything in the long run.

4) In my opinion, this team shouldn't have special weapons. This team should have an apothecary. no one has specified these yet, so i thought that would be a good idea. Big Men are an even bigger debate.

5) Also lately, i have played 5 games with a modified version of the team that has seemed to make the list more fair in comparison with other team lists. I'm not saying this is what you should play with, but it might give people ideas.

0-2 Werebear 5 4 2 8*, 120k, (G,S) Break tackle, Frenzy

0-2 Werewolves* 8337, 120k, (G,A) Razor fangs, catch, frenzy

0-14 Werekin 6337, 60k, (G) Frenzy

*I've found that as long as you can only have 2 of them, the werebear having 8 armor and the werewolf having 8 move is still somewhat balanced.

6) Consider giving the werekin a skill instead of frenzy, simulating that they are not actually werewolves or something. This way, you could free up more abilities for the other units. But that's only if you want to, i know it might spoil the fun of the team for some people.

7) Again, it's not my intention to ruin this team or anything, i'm just trying to keep it in perspective and keep it fair.

One thing i forgot to mention was the cost of the individual units.

Using Jervis's cost formula, which is the commonly accepted way of determing price for a unit, the prices should be these instead:

For the original werewolf team list:

Werebear 115k

Werewolf 120k

Werekin 50k

For the one i suggested:

Werebear 90k

Werewolf 120k

Werekin 30k
