New Niggling Injuries System

Post by Toby »

Add a new column to the team roster named "NI"
Every time a player suffers a NI, add +1.
Starting "NI" is 0.
Maximum "NI" is 6.

Before a match, roll a D6 to medicaly check players who once suffered any niggling injuries.
If the score does not equal or beat the players "NI", the player is sidelined for game. (1 always fails, 6 always succeds)
A player who is sidelined because of a niggling injury may be treated by the teams apothecary during the game.

chance to play:
NI 1 = 1+ (5/6) 83%
NI 2 = 2+ (5/6) 83%
NI 3 = 3+ (4/6) 66%
NI 4 = 4+ (3/6) 50%
NI 5 = 5+ (2/6) 33%
NI 6 = 6+ (1/6) 17%

Well the current odds are

1 0.8333
2 0.6944
3 0.5787
4 0.4822
5 0.4018
6 0.3348

So your proposal is slightly nicer if there are 4 or less niggles (which is the overwhelming majority of cases).

So why reduce the effectiveness of niggles?

Toby, in general you seem to make lots of proposals for changes to the rules without explaining why you want to change them. Sometimes it just feels like change for its own sake.

Tis one:

Playability. (Rolling only 1 D6)
Streamlining (Equal or Beat)
Limit on Niggles. (6)
Sigurds Rule (1&6)
Apothecary may be used DURING the game. (if you feel you realy need a missing player for example the thrower at some point in the game)

the chances were not what i had in mind in the first place.

A lot of changes/adjustments are because I work on something that puts more info in the Team lists. Questioning rules helps me understand. Its hard to explain, give me your email and I send you a beta of the new Team Lits i am talking about.

For example this is about the NI column.

I think that's important. Its difficult for anyone else to know the context of what you are trying to do.

Without publishing your ideas wholesale you wont get much feedback.
