Alternative Chaos Dwarf Roster

Post by Ithilkir »

Just got thinking about the CD roster if they do change them in the upcoming years (whether to reflect WHFB changes or general 'nerfing' of the CD roster).

So wanting to put them back to the old 2nd edition CD's (evil mutant dwarves!) I based them on a mix of 2nd edition CD's and 3rd edition/LRB Dwarves. Sooooo, assuming they have to change, what would these look like? (unplaytested etc etc)

Code: Select all

Qty Position Mv St Ag Av Skills Cost Skill Groups
0-12   Linemen                 4  3  2  9    Block, Tackle, Thick Skull      70,000     Gen, Str, Phys
0-4    Blitzer                 5  3  3  9    Block, Thick Skull              90,000     Gen, Str
0-4    Blocker                 3  3  1  10   Block, Stand Firm, Thick Skull 100,000     Gen, Str

Big Guy
0-1 Bull Centaur 6 5 2 9 Sprint, Sure Feet, Thick Skull 110,000 Gen, Str
                                             Bone Head, Big Guy

Why turn CD's into the generic Dwarf team? What makes the CD team unique is their mix of players. You've homoginized them into slightly different Dwarves.

Not different enough from standard Dwarfs to be viable.

I'd prefer a "slave" CD team, something like:

Code: Select all

0-12 Hobgoblins   40K 6 3 3 7 - {G}
0-2  Goblins      40K 6 2 3 6* Dodge, Stunty, RS {A}
0-2  Orcs         50K 5 3 3 8* - {G}
0-6  Chaos Dwarfs 70K 4 3 2 9 Block, Tackle, Thick Skull {G, S}
0-2  Black Orcs   80K 4 4 2 9 - {G, S}

Re-rolls 60K
No bull centaurs - leave them for the vanilla CD team. Maybe this team should have 0-4 CDs.

*Note that the Orcs and Goblins deliberately have 1 less point of AV, to represent their slave status.

I dunno about that, Cerdival. The Physical attributes would scare the heck out of me at higher levels. Dwarves with Claw/RSC? Nasty stuff.

Why only PA on the linemen? Surely (fluff-wise*) it should be all of them or none. Plus, the existing CDs can't take them, resistant to mutation and all that.

*Anyone seen The Apartment? I love that film. :)

Ithilkir you 'stole' the Blockerstatline from me, but I realy think that after having tested my Iron Breakers (for dwarfes) I belive that 3329 is better. With Ag1 you almost never have the possibility to score a td or dodge in an emergency...

Well RobotorZ, I wouldn't get too upset about it, this subject isn't at all original. Basing dwarfs on 2ed has been discussed before (a year ago). Nothing new here. The idea was shot down for the same reasons pointed out here, don't need another dwarf roster (too similar to regular dwarfs) and people afraid of mutations on dwarfs.

I am not upset at all! And I did not mean this post that serious. Just think of how many possible stat-combinations you can have when you want to stay bellow 100k cost and the player should be a slow dwarf? 30? 10?

My idea was to goof around with the dwarf stat line and 3 3 1 10 was the first that came into my mind, so I guess, Ithilkir had the same idea (without even noticing my signature)

I have no idea if I took it from your sig or not, I might have seen it and just not realised.. Either way I was looking for a stat line that was slower, but tougher than a Dwarf Lineman, and that's harder to come up with..

Overall, looking at it.. It is a bit sh.. rubbish, it wasn't meant as a new roster to add to the game, just a "well if they do decide to scrap the existing CD's for whatever reason..." roster.

Old old chaos dwarf were mutants and guess 16 man team on this idea would be cool. Guess just drop the big boys and play with secret weapons and basic players
