Bloodbowl Rugby

Post by sangraal »

I had a look back over the archive & found some interesting ideas for
rugby style teams in Bloodbowl.

What I am looking at doing though is to create a new game, based on bloodbowl, but to be as close to rugby as possible.
(the emphasis would be on team advancement in a long term league)

Things like only one team to select from, maybe more than 11 players on pitch, conversions, field goals, new skill tables etc etc etc.

My question is, has anyone done anything like this?

Aside from the 11 man rule and the forward passing, I think BB is much more like rugby than North American style football. But that's just my opinion.

Way more- there is no way Bloodbowl as is would have been made as a 'football' game in North America.

Just add the kicking rules and I think you have Rugby. What conversion would you need?

The ECBBL boys and I muddled something along these lines together at the Blood Bowl. All I remember is that it was VERY silly...we had offside and multiple blitzes, but only on the ball carrier...Ian or Al may remember more.

Dregding that old chestnut up.

Basically players in front of the ball were offside and could not give assists.

TZ only applied to the ball & ball carrier (so no one else had to dodge).

You could make any number of blitz actions a turn, but could only make the block with or against the ball carrier.

Players with Dodge got Dump Off.

Players with Catch, but no dodge, got dump off too.

Blockers (or linemen) got "Ruck" which meant they could scatter the ball instead of trying to pick it up. IIRC they could reroll the scatter too.

Otherwise just the same

Why would you want to convert BB to rugby. Just create your own new game. I look forward to hearing Neos' NFL version... I mean.....Sshhh.. I didn't say anything. It wasn't me, damn rookies can't keep anything quiet round here!!!

Think you'd have to carry a fifty five man roster in that one, too? Ack! Better start painting in advance...

55? Isn't an NFL roster 52 plus 5 man practice squad?

I've long thought about trying some NFL rules...it would be tough to do. Also looking forward to these rules that absolutely aren't being worked on at all honest guv...
