Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
"Brun Cragback & Lug" from Privateer Press
It may be a bit too massive; and if it is; I wish someone could make me a snow troll like this. (I still feel the urge to get one)
I've been informed it stands on a 50mm base where the inner grass covered area is 40mm diameter
I've been thinking along these lines every since I saw the movie The Golden Compass. It would look good with a BB Norse or Elfball Valkyrie team if it was the right size.
It is too big, I reckon. I discussed this with Brage97. PP bases consists of an inner "plateau" with a rim all the way around, creating a lowered platform inside. On Lug's base, the outside ring (touching the table) is 50 mm, while the surface he actually stands on is 40 mm. You decide.

I hate Wood Elves.

That would work fine. Put the fig on a 40mm round base and its toes would be touching the outer rim.

If the model can stand on a smaller base, then stand him on a smaller base. I don't see why size would be such an issue for a model as nice as this - not to mention the fact that it so nicely fits the theme.
I don't think the size of it needs to be such a concern. Some careful positioning when he is in a scrum will be the only real concern.
I would strongly suggest however that you make some sort of stunned/prone token for him like I did for the enormous treemen for the halfling team that I made a few years ago:

Hey, I thought for that team you had put out pieces Honeycomb cereal: two for stunned, one for prone, and just ate one piece per turn to change the marker status.
Or were those your reroll markers?

Reroll markers. Eat them when used! Failing rolls never tasted so good!
