Conversion Project: New WHFB Wood Elves

The new wood elf line for Fantasy looks quite nice, and they've inspired me to do a conversion for Blood Bowl...
however, I don't play Wood Elves in Warhammer, and I haven't seen any of the figs in person, only on the website, so I need some advice.
also keep in mind that conversion is not something I do with the zeal some of you other modellers do. Basically for me "conversion" will mean "weapons removal"
I'm thinking of using a box of either glade guard or the new "eternal guard" figs for line elves...either should be pretty cool. I'm thinking the eternal guard will be easier to do the weapons removal on, primarily due to the quivers on the glade guard...taking them off would screw up the cloaks. One thing working for the glade guard, though, is that the box has 16 whereas the eternal guard has only 10, so the glade guard would give more options, for the same price even! Any other thoughts here?
For the catchers and throwers, I'm thinking of buying a box of the new Wardancers. They don't have the old wardancer look with the huge mohawks, and have very dynamic, catcher like poses. Put a ball in the hand of a couple of them and they would work as throwers as well.
For the Wardancers themselves, I am considering using the "spellsinger" figs...3 of the 4 spellsinger figs are actually off the ground...mid-leap as it were! And of those, 2 don't even have weapons to remove, and the 3rd has a staff that would be a pretty simple snip. I think they'd look sweet. Of course, if I'm paying the full $12 for each, they'd BETTER! Also the actual Wardancer Lord fig, another $12 guy, is pretty sharp, and is also off the ground (barely, if I am seeing the picture right). Thing is, I'm not sure it's different enough from the other Wardancers to distinguish it from the catchers/throwers.
Finally, the treeman. I have several really good options here. One is the LotR Treebeard fig, who looks pretty good and can probably be found somewhere for way less than retail. The main drawback there is that he's not from the new WH line so the "unified" look of the team takes a hit.
I do very much like the new WHFB treeman they've made for the wood elves, but on the other hand he's $45!! EEK! They do have a new unit, called "Tree Kin", which are kinda like treemen only smaller (and in game presumably weaker), but are only $15. I like the "real" treeman better, but not 3x better! I do also have other treeman type guys already which I could use, but again, the team unity would take a hit. Of course the allies are supposed to look different to a point, so maybe that's not such a big deal.
Anybody have any experience with this sort of work, or any thoughts that might help me a bit?
