An Additional NAF ranking?

Been thinking about the NAF rankings and how much they actually mean. Whilst it's nice to have something to compare and check out after tourneys, i think it would be nice to have a different, additional, ranking(s) available.

An idea for Live Coach Ranking:
Points awarded for placing in a NAF tourney.
All points gained would total up to give a Live Coach Ranking.
Awarded points have a decay, say 2 years at which point they drop from the Live Coach Ranking total.

Could have separate Rankings for Stunty, Non-Stunty & Combined total

Thoughts behind this. With the race ranking we have, it is possible to get high up and simply stay there forever by never playing the race again. Also a coach may be reluctant to play a favoured race again just because they already have a high ranking. I myself considered this with Goblins since reaching #1, although I will likely never stop playing the little darlings! The Live Ranking could run alongside what we already have and might encourage attendance at more tourneys? Depending upon how much it actually meant to coaches i guess

Cant imagine it would be too difficult to implement, and I'm sure someone could suggest something much better than I have, but thought having a thread might be nice to discuss things. A lot of us enjoy a good old stat or two :)

Doubleskulls pure coaching ranking already fills this niche I think. Takes all your results with all races, so no hiding unless you give up tournaments altogether.

I'm not sure placing is the best method of ranking people (normal arguments about rankings being ridiculous aside). The relative quality of tournaments is so vastly different.

Tennis, if I remember correctly, only takes the last one year of performance into the ranking. Same with golf I believe.

Keep in mind, that this would possibly deter folks from playing different races at tournaments. If they spread themselves out they are unlikely to be able to compete with folks who concentrate on one particular race.

Interesting, never seen Doubleskulls ranking before. Will check it out when i get chance :-)

With regards to Tennis, it was the exact sport I was thinking of! My idea wouldnt separate the ranking into races, it was just an overall ranking so dont think it would deter coaches from playing a variety?

Anyway will look through the new (to me) info before I say any more!
