UK 24 idea

Having seen the South West Chapionship end recently was wondering if the following would have appeal to anyone in the UK (- and maybe Scotland!)?

An extra event where 24 or 48 coaches were invited dependant upon their performance with a particular race.
Each NAF ranked event (excluding the NAFC itself) for a calender year would count.
Best two points scored with each race per coach are recorded and the highest coach (or two highest) after the year get an invite to play their qualifying race.
Placings of each tourney could translate to points as:

Number of Players - Finishing Position +1

So 1st place in a 32 person tourney would get 32 pts
2nd place 31 pts

Or another better method which I'm sure someone know of :D

Will do. Feel free to link the news to me please :-)

Think 'Northern Championship' might be less inclusive but then as I know exactly nothing about it, I cant really make a judgement :)

I must admit I'd be more in favour of a championship which brings the UK regions together rather than dividing them into Northern, South-Western, Scottish etc.

Better together? ;-)

A nice sentiment, but 'local' championships are surely more practical. I can afford to get to half a dozen tournaments in Scotland, if they were spread across the UK it'd be much less likely.
However, if this was to become NAF sanctioned, it could revolve around the NAF Championships. The Scottish Championships this year featured six tournaments including the NAFC. You could feasibly have four (or more/less) regional championships (Scotland, North, South East, South West for example) all of which include the NAFC and are scheduled to finish with the NAFC. Therefore, all four regional championships would be decided and could be presented at the NAFC.

My idea was just the single one UK 24 tourney to require possible extra travel. To qualify you may still play in your local events and earn points that way.

Only thought of the idea at the South West Championship had a disappointing level of competition this time round and hoped a national event might have more interest?
I also wasnt expecting this one tourney to be NAF ranked in itself as it would be an invitation only event.

(btw, apologies Itchen for the slight hijak as your original idea wasn't really to do with tourney championship series)

I like, in principle, though I would never get there

Issues abound though, first of all who organises it? The NAF? But it cant be NAF sanctioned as it would be an invitational. Perhaps hold the "Champion of Champions" contest inside an open tourney akin to the way Eurobowl/Eur'Open works (if I understand that correctly...). So an indy TO to organise. Kudos to the person who takes that on.

Where to hold it? Central UK would be favourable so it would be "fairer" to all those invited in terms of travel.

plus more when I think of things. Pretty tired and emotional today.

Best way is to have regional Championships (Like the South-West) And have like the top 5/10 players after the Championships have ended to be invited to a National Championship to compete to be best in the Nation.
