Hi all,

quote nicked from MBLB, not appropriate to follow up there.

If there were an option to avoid playing clubmates at tourneys, would you want this? Score can do it, but would it make everything a bit too random? You can do it for the first few rounds then turn it off?

Poll time!

I've considered doing it for round 1, but not after that.

To be frank I think the terms would really have to be narrowed for serious disscussion. If it's a 40 person tournament and there is 3 from a club that's one thing. If its a 20 man tournament and there is 6 from a club that's pretty different.

I'd rather not play club mates ( although recently I've had pretty good results against them... :D )

Tournaments are an opportunity to play someone different, to meet new players, see different builds/ play styles .

Just my thoughts

In the last 5 tournaments I have played my clubmates 5 times and they didnt go to 1 of them. Tbh im not all that fussed if I have to play them. Theres an added incentive to win and its good banter between us. If im that bothered I'll go to tournies without them xD

No. Swiss/random is much preferable.

It would certainly be a step backwards, wouldn't it? Although, avoiding Waterbowlers can only help results! ;)

Its a backwards step and would be hard to police

For example, I am member of the GBBL, but what if i play one game int he Waterbowls open league

Does that mean i now avoid playing any GBBL and WB members???

Btw the quote is a bit of a running joke as every tournament I've been to with them I've had to play at one or both of them

Didn't mean to misquote, just made me think! Happens to me a lot and doesn't bother me, just thought I'd run a quick poll :D

Like the majority I am happy and like to play club mates.

Perhaps it depends on your league as well? In ECBBL there are potentially 24/30 of us in 3 divisions so its possible (and happened) that I dont get to play a particular person for several years. (that is four seasons). So a tournament might be the only chance we get to play each other.....

Every tournament I run I allow anyone to be reassigned in ONLY Round 1 if they are randomly assigned a club mate ... after that it is based on the Swiss draw based on points.

So I like doing it for round 1 ... but definitely not after that.

I'm in favour of filtering the first round.

If you go to lots of tournaments then you probably don't care about playing a local friend during the first round. The flip side is that if you don't go to lots of tournaments then it might be a bit disappointing to have to play against someone you face every other week.
