Apothecaries

I have no idea how I got this information. But, I've always played Apothecaries as placing the injured played back into the reserves rather than back onto the pitch.
It make Apoths alot weaker, but makes sense because how and where does the player get reintroduced into the game? if you just put them back where they were, what if someone had moved through that square in the remainder of their turn? what if someone finished there move in that square?
Now I'm sure I've read this somewhere but for the love of nuffle I can't find it anywhere.
Have I been playing it wrong all the time?
