A friend of mine and I are trying to get started using SkiJunkie's javabowl application (just as an aside here: Thank you SkiJunkie!! You have delivered something I've been looking for for years) but are having difficulty. We both have routers and I think that is where the trouble lies. It does not matter which of us is the host and which the client we get the same "cannot connect to server" message. We have the IP addresses right and I have gone into my router access and forwarded the port we are using which I thought would fix the problem but it didnt. We are both able to be the "client" when a 3rd friend hosts and he does not have a router which is how I came to decide that it was router related.
I've read through all the posts in this forum and the faq at Ski's homepage and cannot figure out quite what Im supposed to do. It seems that we might have to go through a proxy but I could not understand how to work that either. I downloaded the proxy .jar file but when I double click on it nothing happens. Does a person not behind a router/firewall have to download that file and then we both connect to him? Is there a way to get through the routers without having to use a proxy? Any help we could get would be very much appreciated.

Best bet would be to post this sort of question on the FUMBBL forum.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.
