Apothecaries

However you play online - Java, Vassal, Email, Cyanide etc - talk about it here.

Apothecaries

Post by Emberbreeze »

I have no idea how I got this information. But, I've always played Apothecaries as placing the injured played back into the reserves rather than back onto the pitch.

It make Apoths alot weaker, but makes sense because how and where does the player get reintroduced into the game? if you just put them back where they were, what if someone had moved through that square in the remainder of their turn? what if someone finished there move in that square?

Now I'm sure I've read this somewhere but for the love of nuffle I can't find it anywhere.

Have I been playing it wrong all the time?

Yep, unless you've been playing in the LPL, you've been playing it wrong. The Apo returns the player to the square on the pitch were they were injured.

It's a commn PBeM convention that you don't enter the square of a player that's been injured (if your opponent has an Apo), unless it's vital to your turn that you do. If you feel you need to enter that square, and there's the chance your opponent might want to heal the player, then you should save your turn at that point, and send it to the oppostition. Yeah, itslows it down a little, but not to much.
