It will be a 3 round, swiss style tournament using LRB 2.0 as the base. TR 100 teams. 1 Star Player per team using the Gen-Con SP rules. This tournament is NAF Sanctioned.

Look at http://home.comcast.net/~jaylazer/philcon.html for all the details.

There is no cost for this tournament beyond the PhilCon Entry fee $45 for the full 3 days. 1 day admissions are available but they aren't saying how much.

No Real prizes at the moment.

My buddy is making me some cool trophies though.

For the $45 you also get to see the rest of the convention. There will be one-day tickets available at the door, but I haven't been able to find out how much they will be.

I"ll put together some prizes as well. I've got a bunch of extra 2nd Ed mini's that I would be willing to offer up.

I've also got some unopened 3rd ed team boxes that were sitting around. I'll think about the prizes and let you know.

I just found out that the Single Day ticket for Sunday will be $20.

So if you just want to come for the tourney it'll just cost $20.

For now I'm keeping the tournament at LRB 2.0.

Since the tournament looks like it'll be pretty small, we might change to the new rules but only if everyone agrees to it.

I don't want to change the rules this close to the start of the tourney unless everyone is OK with it.

Well, I might have made a new record for numbers in a tournament.

I ended up with 2 coaches.

Skink-O-Rama (Lizardman) coached by Jeremy Smith won 1-0 over Reign of Terror (Chaos) coached by Val Cassotta.

Their game was a pretty close one. Val had several turns end on his first block. Once because of his Minotaur and twice with double skulls and no rerolls.

Jeremy and his skinks caused much trouble for Reign of Terror. At least 3 times, a skink dodged into the Reign of Terror cage and threw a 2-die down block knocking the beastman with the ball over.

Even with the light numbers, all 3 of us had fun.

My numbers were hurt by a couple of things.

One we had a snow storm come through that day. I had 2 coaches coming from over 1 hour away and they decided not to brave the storm for that.

Two, I'm not sure the Venue was a good choice. Philcon is a Sci-Fi convention. Gaming is really a secondary thing. The only "advertising" the Con did for gaming was a piece of paper I could have filled out in the gaming room.

I'm not sure there is enough cross over between BB and pure Sci-Fi.

Three, I didn't advertise it myself enough.

I'm not sure if I'll do it again at Phil-Con next year. I might try it with a different con or on it's own. I'll do some reasearch over the next month or so and see what comes up.

Well keep trying, and there are lots of people here to give advice. I would say that the way to advertise would be the game shops in the phila area. Dont despair, u cant help the weather. Get help the local game shops, and any interested in any gw gaming. If there arent any game cons in the area try to interest the 40k and fantasy people, then tag along. If they dont think making one is possible, try to interest them in the sci-fi one, the con organizers will work harder for u based on the pull u can manage alone or with others.

Well, I feel badly for you, JayLay - I just didn't feel well enough to brave the weather coming up for the day. That'll teach me to keep my mouth shut until I'm completely sure . . .

Sounds tho like you made the best of it - tell Val I owe him one for helping you and taking care of the trophies.

Nothing ventured, as has been said - I'm glad you put it out there. For that you deserve full marks and congrats...

Take care,
-OMM

Don't feel too bad. I really don't think someone who is sick from Tampa, Florida should travel to Philadelphia during a snow storm. That just can't do good things for you.

I'll let Val know.

I do want to give him some Kudos. Since my conversion skills are just about up to clipping weapons off, I ask Val to make some Trophies for me.

The overall winner trophy turned out really nice.

I didn't get a picture of it but I've asked the winner to send me one.

Once I get it I'll post it here.

yeah weather was a big reason I didn't go...had to shovel the crap I got in D.C. and just didn't feel up to it after that really. I'm not used to driving in the snow...spent last 8 years in Hawaii and San Diego.
