BBALLs Shield 2019 - London Tournament Series

Post by ooarrtracter »

Hello all,

The BloodBowl Association of London Leagues (ECBBL, DBL, BBBL, talkNuffle) is very proud to present the inaugural BBALLs Shield 2019. This competition is designed to promote Bloodbowl in London, foster the community and most importantly have some fun!

The BBALLs Shield is a Structured Series running throughout 2019. Simply play in one or more of our associated tournaments to qualify. Your best 3 results will be taken to rank you individually.

Additionally you can nominate a team to represent and then the best 3 individuals for each team will be used to rank Teams. It's encouraged to form a team based on league; be it one from London, outside the city or online based. However this is completely up to the discretion of the entrant and you may enter as an individual if you wish. Prizes are available for the best performing individuals and team from this series.

The final qualifying event, The BBALLs Cup, will be a team tournament for teams of 3 in November 2019. As we are trying to promote the London tournament community the twist is that the draw will use an accelerated Swiss system, using ranking from the BBALLs Shield up to that point to seed the sides. This will give all entrants a chance to play against those with a similar performance and reward series attendance.

Finally an invitation to the BBALLs Masters will be extended to the top 16 ranking coaches to participate in A knock out event in January 2020. This will crown the inaugural BBALLs Champion for the calendar year.

So if you want to represent your London league to win the series for it, come into our city and steal our trophies, vie for the title of best player in London, or simply just play some Bloodbowl, let your interest be known and get yourself to some of the events!

Fabulous. Nice to see London getting it's own 'scene'. I shall try to be at several, and to organise a team of Ronin for the Team Tourney.

Results added from the talkNuffle Superbowl VI last weekend. Unsurprisingly they're identical to the finishing positions from the tournament (best position as a tiebreaker will do that for you)!

More interestingly crit_hit takes a commanding lead in the Stunty cup thanks to a mighty 2/2/0 with Ogres. Everyone needs to step up their game, or hope he never stunties again, if they want to topple him in the rankings.

For the teams we are delaying publishing until I have more confirmation from attendees which team they wish to represent. At this stage there are far too many without a team which skews the rankings. I have spoken with some coaches and updated above but if you attended and wish your affiliation to be updated please get in contact.

The next event will be the Warboar Spring Open. Sign up!

Hey Rob. I think this set of results is slightly wrong as published before Loynster cleared up confusion over Supertom and Minimorg's last game. I think their positions should be swapped. Supertom in 20th.

Cheers Paul, You're right Tom told me to switch the result and I missed it. It's updated in my file now and I will update the table once I have a few more teams settled.

With victory at the Warboar Spring Open with a perfect 3/0/0 record scs.sam has taken a commanding early lead in the BBALLs Shield. The rest of the top 4 are rounded out by yogi, BartK and gj703 who added a solid 66.7 points on top of their Superbowl scores to breach the 100 point mark.

SteAirey's stunty cup win puts him in second overall but still lags behind crit_hit's fantastic Superbowl score. No-one has taken stunties in both tournaments so far so the field remains quite open.

The initial team rankings are being released with the majority of coaches having a side to represent. Despite this the unassigned pirates ride high upon the rankings buoyed by scs.sam's performance. As always if you have attended and either are not in a team, or wish to change the one you are in please let me know.

Our next event is the Backbreaker Cup III on the 24th May 2019 run by the DBL. Held in a great venue by and enthusiastic organising team and with a subsidised licensed bar, what more could you want? Tickets still available at time of writing!

The Backbreaker Cup was a roaring success last weekend and congratulations to EyeBallPaul for winning it.

Four coaches officially qualified for the BBALLs Shield after the weekend having attended all 3 events so far; scs.sam, Yogi, supertom and Heff. Congratulations to them, but with a long way to go many of the other coaches will soon be qualifying also.

Sam has set a solid score of 237.5 for everyone to hunt down and with him not attending the next event Yogi, Gritter, PurpleChest and King_Ghidra will be aiming to overhaul him.

In the Stunty standings crit_hit, SteAirey, supertom and Myrmedon all took them for the second time to bolster their scores. The only change was VonLeppard storming in with another solid 75 point score (and apparently coming oh so close to a perfect 100) in 3rd place.

With Sam being moved to the COSH team there has been a change at the top of the Team standings with the ECBBL coaches leading the way. With many to still attend a 3rd event and a couple of the teams short a member there is still big changes to be made here. As always if you are not listed as part of the team you wish to represent please let me know and I will update it.

Our next event is Pearly Kings & Queens XIV on the 29/30th June run by the ECBBL. The event is sold out as we stand but we are taking a waiting list in case of dropouts.
