The Chaos Cup -- September 17-18, 2011

Post by nyarlathotep »

Summertime in Chicago....lots of stuff to do. Take your kids, take your wife, and take your husbands too on a nice little trip and while you're here....get in the CHAOS CUP 2011! http://thechaoscup.com/

This year marks the first year of a Chaos Cup Committee taking over the planning duties to ensure this is the best event possible. Xtreme is hard at work on the rules pack. Nyarlathotep has some great promotion updates to tell you about in the coming months. Valdric is keeping an eye on the loot. Alkaline13 is making sure we got places to sit...and places to s*it.....and The Main Guy is somehow overseeing this process. And yet, even with that last line, I still expect this event to be awesome!

We've had several US states being represented, and even coaches from other countries in attendance before, and this year I hope to see more of the same.

A big change from last year, based on popular request, is giveaways to all participants.

EVERY participant will be given....

-Limited Edition Spider Smith Chaos All-Star model donated by Impact Miniatures

-2 Official Chaos Cup 2011 D6's
- Official Chaos Cup Dugout
- Official Chaos Cup iron-on/sew-on patch
- Official Chaos Cup Coin[/b]

There will be trophies and prizes as well for those who do well, but it's nice to know that no matter how you finish, you are walking/driving/flying/teleporting home with some nice schwag.

I've been in constant talks with the staff at the GW Battle Bunker, and demanded items such as not double booking our venue space with other events, seating priority, usage of the employee bathroom to save time, and there is even a possibility of getting some Blood Bowl stuff in stock or available for pre-order. If they want to keep the event there, they've gotta play by our rules now!

PREREGISTRATION OPENS ON MARCH 1ST
Stay tuned to this thread for details on how to preregister.

Price will be $30 if you preregister
Otherwise $35 at the door

On a final note, this tournament is one week away from the other North American Major, The Spike Tournament in Canada. Make your plans now to hit both tournaments in one trip!

March 1st is just around the corner. Get ready to sign up!

Chaos Cup 2011...where Other Guy and Main Guy will force you to hoist this 100lb trophy above your head if you win!

Cool. You might want to put the date in this post somewhere (preferably the title).

Hope you'll be looking at the skill rules too, which massively favour Amazons, Dwarfs etc.

2010 rules were: 1.1m teams, the only skills available are normals/doubles bought from that 1.1m at TV cost. Teams such as Dwarfs/Amazons can build a normal team for 950K/1mil and then stack skills. Most other teams can't afford even a decent roster, let alone extra for skills on top.

For example: Amazons take a 'standard' team with 4 Blitzers, 9 Linewomen and 3RRs ... they get 140K left to buy lots of Guard and Block with.

Orcs (another good team for this example) take their 'standard' team with all Troll, 4 BOBs, 4 Blitzers, Thrower, 2 Linemen, 3RRs .. they get nothing left. So they need to compromise somewhere to get skills ... which the Amazons did not.

This event is going to be great. I'm hoping to have 50 this year. 75 in 2012. And 100 in 2013.

And each milestone will involve me forcing Xtreme to chug something.

Sadly too close to Gencon, and only a couple of months ahead of the World Cup.

Wish I could do them all, but I work in healthcare.

Orcs took 2nd place last year. Slann had 2nd place in points. Admittedly, Amazons did win. The highest "Dwarf" team was my Chaos Dwarfs, with a 3-1-1 record.

It's unlikely I'll be able to make this trip (but I am checking the finances).. is there a chance to get order some of the swag (coin, dice, patch ect)?

If we have anything leftover, we can definitely offer it up for sale. I can't commit to anything until after the event takes place however. PM me after CC and we can talk.

Big thanks to Impact, they are very generously sponsoring a painted team for the Champion. Either a free team of Impact figures Painted by MajorTusk, or you provide the models and they will have Majortusk paint those. Either way an awesome prize for the champion.

This is going to be a great event. I'm really hoping moving it within a week of Spike will attract more overseas coaches!

Would be nice, but either way I think we are going to have a great turnout. I'm working on a new vampire team for the tournament this year, hopefully I get it done in time.
