Tournament Scoring
GAMES: 0 - 24 pts
Win: 4 points
Tie: 2 points
Loss: 0 points
Won by 2+ points = +2
Lost by only 1 point = +1
Caused 1 more casualty than opponent = +1
Caused 2 or more casualties than opponent = +2
*NOTE That Blocking, Fouling, and Secret Weapon casualties count for this score *
PAINTING: 0-6 pts
Painting will be judged by Tournament Organizers during the games.
Skill packages
(Note: Packages do not add to your team value, each is considered “equal” for the purposes of Team Value)
Twilight (Chicks dig it. Nerds dig it. Nerdy chicks REALLY dig it. If you pick Twilight, you’ll have a following. An angsty, pale, emo following, but a following nonetheless)
5 x Assistant Coaches
5 x Cheerleaders
2 x Bloodweiser Babes
1 x player gains the “Fan Favorite” skill
Harry Potter (Nothing says “Sci-Fi” like Wizards and book learning)
1 x Wizard
1 x player learns a singles skill
1 x player learns a double skill
Stargate SG1 (O’Neill plays dirty, so should you)
2 x Bribes
2 x players both gain the skills “Dirty Player” and “Sneaky Git”
Star Trek (we’ve got Captain Kirk, Dr. McCoy, First Officer Spock, and Ensign Ricky)
1 x player gains the “Leader” skill
1 x Wandering Apothecary or Igor
1 x player learns a singles skill
1 x Free Lineman with Loner and Decay
Star Wars (We’ve all seen it before hundreds of times and its a staple of Sci-Fi conventions)
6 x players learn a singles skill (cannot have more than 2 of the same skill)
Team Rosters
Players are required to bring at least five copies of their roster. Failure to bring five copies of your roster will result in a jeers, tomfoolery, and general mockery from all parties involved. I will be picking one person who doesn’t have five copies of his roster to be my “stooge”. The “stooge” will be referred to as Curly all tournament long and, if the opportunity arises, pies may be thrown in Curlys direction. Don’t be Curly.
Prizes
Trophies/prizes will be awarded for the following:

Mini-Medic
Some say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So with that in mind, we are “imitating” rather than stealing this idea from Adepticon…
Traveling to a convention and transporting miniatures can be a chal¬lenging affair. Sometimes, despite the best preparations, the artwork just doesn’t make it. This year ICON will be hosting the Mini-Medic sta¬tion on Saturday morning during registration!
The Mini-Medic station will offer a wide range of repair services, performed by highly regarded painters and modelers. It is intended to help players who had issues in transit and or at the show. Services will include super glue fixes, complex repair, and large model repair.
Mini-Medic services are free to ICON members. While the focus of the booth will be to act as a repair station for broken models, please come by to say hello and learn about techniques, tools and materials necessary to build models properly and/or repair them quickly.
Mini-Medic service will be on a first come first serve basis, but every effort will be made to get downed minis back on the table quickly and keep unlucky travelers having fun at ICON this year!
All of the medics are volunteers with years in the hobby. We will do our best, but if you want to borrow some glue and clippers and do the repairs yourself, we can do that too!
Feel free to email any questions to: dnielsen@iconsf.org, or post them in this thread.

Looks like a great time. Xtreme told me the info you sent over...much appreciated. Unfortunately I just cannot make it this year.
Maybe next year if I actually put a few pennies aside for once!

Next year we go bigger. Two days, beer wenches, blackjack... ok it's on a University Campus so it'll only be one day. Gotta pick my battles.

Re: ICON Cup, April 16, Stony Brook NY
If anyone is on campus I would love to get some practice in also. I have a 3-0 record with friends and want to get some loses in there. Haha would make me feel like I'm playing the game right.
Also I feel bad but if I do go Ill probably end up with unpainted pieces because I lack funding at the moment to get them painted. Seeing that the paints 3 a bottle for non-acrylics. Also being a double major kills the time needed for that part of the hobby.

Do what the Aztecs did and paint your audience red. Jazz hands.

my buddies and I are heading down from the Boston area and I have just one question....
can we bring a cooler with beers in it to the tourny? We can manage discreet, if that matters....

Lol I'm game for that. We have this awesome distributor behind the college that sells one of the rarest beers in America. English Henry something but its damn expensive. 12 a bottle and like the amount you get is the same as the old coca cola glass bottles. Its good, but on beer fest it received a mixed review of A+/B+ so its up to taste as to the person. It was out of stock for a month last time I checked but that's normal for it.

good beer is good.
the question remains, are we able to drink at the tourny itself? the Con seems to say "no" but that's not always the case in these off events?

Re: ICON Cup, April 16, Stony Brook NY
It's a dry campus, and a kid-friendly convention, so beer during the tourney is not allowed. That being said, I will gladly join you fellas for a beer (or 4) afterwards.
As for the skill packages, I'll admit I got the basic idea from the guys at the Zlurpcast. They always talk about a variety of tournaments, and the thing that always stood out was what made each tournament different. Since we're a Sci-Fi con, I just wrote what looked appropriate. Glad you like them!

There is a bar on campus if I'm not mistaken. Also the Bench is a bar on the other-side of the railroad.
I usually go to this Irish bar in Port Jefferson Station called Tara.

Taras is a quality Irish pub. The Bench is your standard college bar. It really depends on your mood.
Typically we go to a steakhouse/alehouse post-tourney, and I dont see why this year should be any different.

my local group,in an attempt to finalize the teams we are bringing, has a bit of debate going on.
Can you purchase skills/advancements with your original 1.1 Mil total, or just starting players?

You can purchase standard starting team stuff, but no skills/upgrades. Thats what the packages are for!
