Dutch Open 2011, Utrecht 5th and 6th of february
We're already planning for next year.
DO will be held in the same venue as this year, with more or less the same organizing commitee and this the same atmosphere
Be there!!

I thought it was in Utrecht for one year only. Why no longer Amsterdam?

after the DO this year (actually, during day 1) we had a good discussion with Lucy on this topic and decided that the organization will stay in Utrecht. We've tried to get some guys from Amsterdam involved this year (tried really hard) but at some point you just have to move on. We've got a good team of organizers here, getting to a good and affordable venue in a city where you don't live is a bit of a nightmare, we've got a good (and free) venue and Utrecht is quite easily reached from Schiphol Airport.
So Utrecht it is again.
So Utrecht it is again.

And tbh, i don't see how this matters much. At least from the airport it is basically the same if you go to Amsterdam or Utrecht, maybe 10 minutes longer and 3 or 4 Euro more per trip.
Plus after a few years being held in Amsterdam i figure everyone has seen enough of the city to not be too interested in sight seeing
Utrecht also has enough coffee shops, bars, restaurants and even places that show the superbowl
This year was great, and i plan to go again next year, the Korenbeurs as nice and friendly atmosphere and i encourage everyone to go there.

Maybe.
Did the dutch last year, doing Waterbowl this...I can see myself see-sawing between the two (no way to afford both so close together, much as I'd like to)...so next year it would be the turn of the Dutch.

@Dave:
Well, can't really argue with that explanation, now can I?
... and if I gave the impression that I don't think the Korenbeurs to be a good venue, that absolutely isn't the case. I just hoped that the Netherlands have more good venues to host tournaments, outside the Korenbeurs and the Amershof. (Which was why I reacted somewhat surprised that the decision was made already to keep the Dutch Open in Utrecht).

I'll be there, of course...
On a side note: yes, it's kinda hard to find a good venue that's low-cost at the same time.
Still trying to find a decent place here (Arnhem).
edit: same rules ? TV 1100, no inducements (not even for gobbos and flings ??), no stars, 5 games ?
Or could there be a 6th, like the BUBBLE ?
