Based on it being a 50/50 choose or random direction (4+ AG roll) and 1:3 left/right/forward, if you have a dice with three faces saying 'choose' and one each for left/right/forward it is the same probability and less faff!

Just use a regular D6:
1 - move left
2 - move forward
3 - move right
4+ - choose
Or have I misunderstood the way this works?
That's right, rather than as the rules say roll AG and then direction if necessary just use one dice to speed things up, its just that custom dice are pretty
