Maybe it is not exactly the same situation, but it can lead to the example I have written.

Anyway, I do not want to start a discussion about if the case is the same or not. Our decision is to let only one team per nation with no more than 2 freebooters and no mixed teams.

As you have already booked the flights you are welcome to come, same as all the other coaches that are coming to enjoy the Eurobowl atmosphere such as Frost, Frikipe, Teg, Joanet, Korgluk, Juster or Hangus.

We are agree with this new rule, and we never wanted to make spanish B team.

We are trying to find other players.

One question, have we to find 3 or 5 portuguese players? In other words i and the other portuguese players living in France are they confirmed as Portuguese players?

Thank for your concerned.

it's easy, a team must be formed by 6 players born in Portugal and 2 freebotters. If there is somebody living for a long term in a country, obviusly he can be member of this country team.

I'm goint to buy a beatiful house in Portugal... then I'm like a portuguese  no????

It's a big problem... in first time I would speak seriosly with these people that changed their mind...

Now there are a lot of players that we want to play, not only from wales and portugal, and we don't have team... the big question is if the number of teams is couple or odd...

I agree. These people gave their consent to form a team so dropping out like this means abandoning the team and those still interested in going.

Of course it gets more delicate as you guys have paid for your flights, so if I were you, I would speak to these guys as well on this issue and would even dare to ask them to foresee some kind of compensation towards you guys ...

One thing though, I have to agree with the organizers. How difficult this situation might be, the remaining part of team Portugal has to understand that the organizers cannot give in to this as this has been clearly communicated at the very start.

I do feel sorry for you guys, but like Korgluk said, speak to those "deserters" first ...

Find out from everyone who can make it (by asking those again who have pulled out) and see what you are working with. If you can get to 6 I am sure the freebooters will be knocking at your door to get you up to 8 :D

It's a bad situation and i feel sorry for both the organisers (as they have to uphold the integrity of the tournament) and those that have been let down by teammates.

Hey you could always turn up for the beer, make new friends and maybe (if space and the organisers allow) have a mini Eurobowl Streetbrawl tournament on the Saturday.

Can't really improve on what others have said about this.

It's an unfortunate situation, but if you don't have at least 6 members, then there's not much that can be done. The guys who've dropped out owe you a massive apology and more  .

I hope you find the extra players, but it will be hard at such short notice...

Portugal Team

Post by tpalhares »

Hello to all,

I´ve been talking to haktar, and i don´t have any problem explaining all the situation.

Once the fist post was made, the plan was simple 5 guys driving from lisbon to barcelona.

at this point no problem.

Once i got the message that we needed to play the tournament i´ve assemble a last metting so that i reveived the money to make the transfer to play the Eurobowl.

This is when the thing gone bad. due to any number of situations i was alone to go to the Eurobowl + 3 other players living in france.

At this point i can´t afford the tryp by plane or making the trip alone by car.

I ask the tournament organizers what can be done.

Just one question: if there are slots available for new European teams not enoght players to make a full team, why don´t you let them make a team that isn´t represented in the Eurobowl.

Any questions or any thing else send PM.

Thanks

Tiago

1st of all, you're haktar + you + 3 portugueses living in France, total 5 players ¿that's right? You only need one more player, you must find him

Because these are not the Eurobowl rules, and we can't change the rules 1 month before starting the tourney. If you read all, you'll see that now we're 10 complete teams, and include a new team it's a problem because we must to be 12, and we must to register another team, freebotter team. And that's not the WC

Maybe it is time for a little Eurobowl History lesson. Because most of "THE" Eurobowl rules kewan is talking about were formed over the course over the last years.

1. No Team B. The first and Second Eurobowl had a second team for some countries. Their purpose was allways to make the number of teams even. After the second Eurobowl it was an absolut consens that every, and absolutely every country has only one 8-coach Team. The setup of this team is a thing to decide for the country alone. (And that is a chapter of sorrow of its own)

2. Only 2 Freebooters per Team. Actually this rule started at the first Eurobowl when italy had some dropouts. So they were only 6 players but arrived nevertheless. 2 Freebooters helped them, and it was accepted by most teams that 2 Freebooters were the maximum. The second part of this was that last year Scotland made its first appearance, I dont know the correct numbers but they beat the 2 Freebooter rule. And to make it even worse there was a Freebooter Team created to make it an even number. And actually that was for most players just too much. The Eurobowl has a quite strict ruleset, but two teams which where too mixed up just didn't feel right.

So I heard two years ago that some Teamcaptains said that such an Team Scotland wouldn't have played if the tournament have taken place in their country.

So all in all it is a hard rule, but it is there to hold up the quality of the Eurobowl, and didn't spoil the victory for the other teams. Once you will be here for the first time you will see it.
