We are not in the same case that you are saying.Dark Duke wrote:It is a really delicated issue. We understand your position and it is a pitty what happened, but you have to understand us.
Since the very beginning, we warned that we won't accept a similar situation than Scotland last year. If we let you play with more than 2 freebooters we are opening a door we don't want to. If 2 Hungarian players (I used Hungary as an example, Hungarians don't be mad at me, please) want to play with 6 of the Spanish people that have paid as visitors, morally we wouldn't be able to deny their request and, of course, that's not the spirit of the Eurobowl.
If we let play a team half Welsh, half Portuguese we will again set a dangerous precedent for other countries to do the same in the future. And again, that's not what Eurobowl has to be.
We feel terribly sorry for Tiago and his 4 friends letting you down, but we won't change the rules just one month before the tournament. We hope you'll understand our position.
Of course, as you have already booked the flights, we will be very pleased of having you at the Eurobowl enjoying the atmosphere. Maybe there is a last minute drop to fill in and you can always play against some other visitors (I know it is not the same but at least it is something).
I mean no disrespect to any of the Portugal coaches but I find it unlikely that there will be a significant "ball rolling" effect for Portugal if they can't make the closest EuroBowl they're likely to see.Hangus wrote:Could Wales and Portugal join forces as a one off deal kind of thing?
Once the ball gets rolling, next year they should have no / less problems. Look at Scotland.
