Hmmm. Trains are pretty poopy to Hartlepool. Anyone driving to the venue from Darlington or Durham who could give me a lift from and to the station?

Here's how you get to Hartlepool by train...

There is a direct train to Hartlepool from York (Grand Central Trains) and back. An open return to get you there on Saturday and back on Sunday should cost you about £15 - it's the same price whether you buy on the train or in advance. The rail enquiries searches don't show this up / tend to charge you a higher price.

*The Saturday Hartlepool train from York you'd need to catch leaves 10:14 from York, arriving Hartlepool 11:24.
*The Sunday Hartlepool train leaves 12:36 and arrives York at 13:52 (there is an 09:42 arriving 10:51 but that's more than likely too early).

The Masonic Hall is 5 minute walk from Hartlepool station.

So the thing to do if travelling from the south would be to book your train to York to get yourself there before 10:14 Saturday morning. Then on Sunday take a train out from York after 13:52. Two tickets sounds a bit of a faff on but it will save you some money and get you to Hartlepool pretty straightforwardly. You can usually get decent advance fares to and from York too.

Hard to say as it all depends on the speed the players finish up. No set schedule, but the two years we've run it finished at 10.30am and 10am from memory? If we end up with more entrants this year it could be later, but I'd say around 11am is a good guess?

In breaking news, we are able to reveal that beer will be sold 'Around The Clock' by our proprietor (sshhhhh!). A range of carbonated and uncarbonated non alcoholic beverages will also be available for purchase.
