I send you our races via pm.

Cheers

Thank you to Pipey for allowing a raffle to be run, which proceeds will go towards the World Cup funds.

Thank you also to Hungry Troll for providing some really nice prices for the raffle. The more people participate the more prices will be handed out.

(our Basque, Norwegian, French, German and Italian friends)

With 160 people attending UKTC, the typical tournament tradition of sitting down to a Saturday evening meal all together as a group is somewhat tricky!

Instead, last year we opted to invite the teams who had travelled far to join some of the local UK players for a couple of restaurant meals (two separate bookings) - around 25 people per meal. This we felt was a nice way to welcome our travelling comrades without attempting a huge mass catered gathering!

The question - would you like us to arrange something similar again? With 40 players who are from non-UK based teams, we should be able to do something similar this time i.e. couple of 25 or so person bookings.
Regarding the above, I have arranged a Saturday night restaurant booking for the Basque, Norwegian and Italian teams plus the referees and some stand-in players.

York resident Jimjimany will arrange a similar Saturday night booking for the French and German teams. Thanks again for doing this, Jim!

I'll distribute some info to captains in the next few days re bars to meet at on Friday and Saturday. I imagine we'll suggest the same places as last time ("Brew Dog" Friday / "Old White Swan" Saturday).

Would it be possible to pick bars closer to the Priory St. venue / on the same side of the river?

Old White Swan is kind of fixed... I've written it into some info sheets for captains. Plus it's big and open plan, what we need. Nice walk to experience a bit of York not take your fancy? :D

We had a team practise last weekend and it was the only thing we didn't like about UKTC, so I think it unlikely that we will cross the bridge this time around.

Breaking news: expect a Team Name Change when our race choices are submitted 8)

Gosh. It takes TWELVE minutes (according to Google) to walk from the Priory Centre to the OWS. And, one has to walk over open water.

Due to the excessive time, and clear and present danger, I really think that the UKTC committee should put taxis on for all of the teams attending.

Please note, this post may, or may not be largely ironic.

Or teams could arrange their own taxis, probably for around a pound or two per person ;-)

Look forward to catching up Graham :D

PS your team name has already been updated after captain Purdindas submitted races.

Intriguing! Will we be seeing humans, amazons, norse and, err... bretonnian?! Genius. (Or madness.)
