Hi
Is there any problem due the flood in the Northern UK? Might it influence the venue or the Tournament?

Northern UK! Middle England at best!!kithor2002 wrote:Hi

Seriously though it is usually only the soft southern English that get upset by a bit of "weather".
From the flood maps it does not look like the venue was flooded despite its proximity to the River Ouse:

Looked at some of the road closures and where the river is I would say that this needs to be confirmed, the vunue is close to the affected area.

Grotznik - your airport taxi is unaffected. I'll copy Julien into an email - assuming you're travelling with him, right?
Regarding the venue in general, they are currently closed over the Christmas period and have not yet responded to my voicemails, emails. This is normal. Friends who live in York tell me that the area itself (Mickelgate, Priory Street) is unaffected by floods. I guess travel plans, other buildings like hotels etc. could be affected so I'd check individually to be sure. The Safestay hostel on Mickelgate is not affected.
I'll get back to you in more detail when the venue respond. All will be well I'm sure. Panic not!

Luckily the venue and most of Micklegate is up the hill, my friend got delayed at York train station just after the floods but the train station was not affected, the route between the venue and train station is away from the river so should be OK, most routes to the venue should take you north and drop down so I would hope most will be unaffected, the night out however could be interesting x
