Seems a bit pointless if there is no tier/points/something preventing you taking two kick ass rosters. Assuming you've thought of this already though sounds interesting!

Giving it no more than two seconds of thought, to illustrate my point about race selection, using the editing tier structure and making tier one teams 4 points, tier two teams 3, etc... give a player six points max to spend on their two teams? So if one is a tier one race he best you can have for your second team is tier three.

Something like that, but better!

I prefer the team aspect of MB myself, although Im neither for or against the take 2 teams idea......I personally love the skills points allocation as is. Imho I find the one skill a game tournament limits the field of variety for certain teams to be competitive, not good I feel..

BOTH!

Tribes with 2 races per team member. Good luck to the captains when it comes to getting the draws made.

There is a racial groups system that encourages traditionally weaker teams (130k/170k/210k/250k on skills), as per previous monkeybowls.

But I agree there is nothing to prevent coaches taking two tier 1, as there wasn't so much to prevent a team taking four tier 1 races at Monkeybowl Tribes... ;-)

I may consider some bonus point tweaks to encourage lower grouped races, or bonuses which favour certain play styles (e.g. casualties vs. completed passes). The latter may make the choice of team interesting e.g. "The round bonus is 3TDs or more; think I'll choose my dark elves rather than my orcs!".

I'd prefer not to effectively restrict choice. Happier to let people take the teams they want, just that the roster building rules will be different for each racial group.

Appreciate the feedback everyone :-D

Was discussing this with stick and he also suggested the BOTH (!!!!) option.

One word: too complicated.

I'm all for the two list approach, as you know Bren.

How it'll work in BB I have no idea, not familiar enough with the system to comment yet, but from experience of two lists in other systems it's a format that encourages some wackier and edgier lists; you're able to build one list stacked in one way, the other stacked in another, and choose the one you think best based on what your opponnt has, but not knowing which exact list he'll be using still leaves scope for your choice to go horribly wrong.

Sounds fun.

Hopefully it would make coaches think very carefully about their rosters. I guess you could try to build two all-round rosters (i.e. that would compete well against different styles) or two contrasting ones (e.g. one anti-bash and one anti-AG). Then it's all about the bluff, plus the obvious random factor. The coach you're matched against will be key too. Might affect which style of roster you'd prefer to use.

I may leave the option for people to use only one race, though this would put them at a disadvantage.

Each tribe selects 8 races/rosters, so that's 3 games per race. At the beginning of the weekend the captain is given 24 race cards (same as the 4 he got last weekend) and uses them once each to make the draws (Pippy/Nippy collecting the used cards after each draw is done) giving the team to whichever team member he sees fit at the time, only limit is the same race can't be played twice in each round.

Does that make sense?
Might make updating the NAF records a bit complex :P

Just reading the discussion on this is pretty entertaining and keeping my BB DT's at bay.

The multi-race approaches (both with and without teams) do sound interesting and fun, I'll definitely have to pencil in MB as one to get the Boss to sign-off on next time.
