Re: Albion Coast Cup 2011 - 27/28th August
Congratulations to Nazgob! Looking forward to hearing some reports about how progression affected everyone's tourney. I know it's common in Oz, but quite a bold experiment in the UK. Must admit I was slightly dubious about the format, but a fresh approach is to be applauded! Well done guys..sounds like a success, apologies for not making it.

I'll make each round roster available to coaches who wish to write up their experiences of the UKs first progression tourney regarding what kind of roster they had each round. (pm me if you wish to do this) I'll do mine tomorrow, suffice to say my orcs took one hell of a beating (twice), however I won each of the following games (4 journeymen in game two, one journeyman in game 6 and 250kish inducements)

Dave had a rough time of it with vampires though, probably a braver choice than a stunty team where you can just buy everything back and dont really need skills.

Thanks for a great tournament.
The venueue was brilliant and the food was really tasty. The service at the bar was quick and the televisons on all sports downstars was a nice touch, Curry night was good fun. Hangs head in shame for not completing the Empire callenge I set myself
The format for the tournament was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Not the formats fault I took Dwarves with a deathroller and then lost My runner RIP early in second game and could not get enough cash to replace him for another 3 games
The format was in fact very well received and I hope some others may follow like it.
Book the Mitre for next year. When do you want the ticket money?
Gratz guys

Great tourney, Rob and Pete did a great job and i thoroughly enjoyed the progression format, its a welcome change and brings variety to the tourneys...anyone who missed this or was dubious to the format should hang their head in shame and make sure they come next year...
Also my first time as runnerup, so now looking forward to make it one better next time!
Once again, well done Rob and Pete!

Well done to Rob and Pete, but no - I feel no "shame" in missing this - I have no desire to play "league" tournaments, I have a club for that.vmcat wrote: or was dubious to the format should hang their head in shame and make sure they come next year...
If people want to play it, fine, and I hope you enjoy it, but don't try to force others to do so.

Not a "downer" on the tournament, a downer on the tournament for me - that's a big difference. Like I said earlier in the thread, if I could afford more tourneys I might be interested, but as I can't, I'm not. But I refuse to be "shamed" by not attending something that I have no interest in.
On the other hand...

I'm pleased to have disappointed him.
And while, I'm at it, there's a blog post reviewing the tournament. Here's a snippet:

Linky to the reviewNazgob's Blog wrote:How often do you get to see three star players on the pitch at once? With over 250,000 gold pieces in the bank going into their last match, The Interlopers chose to blow the lot. Having hired Eldrid Sidewinder and a Bloodweiser Babe, they were feeling confident. Of course, Vmcat's lizards then had something in the region of 400,000 gold pieces to spend in return. Helmut Wulf, Hemlock and a bribe graced their side of the pitch. With the board groaning under the weight of our players' combined stardom, Vmcat and I had a blast as we ran around the pitch stabbing, chainsawing and gazing each other. We had a great time and just couldn't work out when you could have that sort of game at a 'normal' tournament.
