The Midlands Championship Series 2020

Post by speedingbullet »

The MCS will be back for it's third year in 2020. Here's how it works.

Points will be awarded to each coach in each qualifying tourney as follows.

The top 9 in a tournament score, in descending order: 15,12,10,8,6,5,4,3,2. Everyone else scores 1 point and everyone including the top 10 also get a bonus point for every 5 coaches below them in the tourney.

For example, Jess wins Examplebowl which was attended by 50 coaches. She gets 15 points for the win and an additional 9 points as she has 45 coaches (rounded down from 49) below her final position. So Jess leaves the tournament with a total of 24 points towards her MCS score.

The total of a coaches top three scores will be used to provide their overall series score, which will be the score used to determine their position in the MCS table. This is subject to five additional rules, see the Small Print section below.

I'll post a picture of the top 15 after every event and a pdf of the full leaderboard will be located here.

Good luck coaches and may your dice roll many pows!

Awards

At the end of the series there will be trophies for:

Champion
Stunty Cup
Rookie Wonder

Small Print

A coach must have played at least 2 of the MCS 2020 tourneys to be eligible for any of the 3 awards.

A coaches top 3 qualifying scores must have been achieved using at least two different races. For example, a coach who plays 3 tourneys in total, all with Lizardmen, will only have their top 2 scores counted. If this coach players one more tourney with a different race e.g. Slann, then the score from this tourney will be added to the 2 highest scores achieved using Lizardmen.

The Stunty Cup will be awarded to the coach with the highest total points from their top 2 qualifying scores achieved using stunty teams. The requirement to play at least 2 different races will also be waived for the Stunty Cup. For example, if you play two tournaments with Ogres then you will be eligible to contest the Stunty Cup.

To qualify for the Rookie Wonder Award, a coach must have completed a total of 5 or fewer NAF tournaments prior to the start of the MCS year (2020).

From 2020 each coach will only be able to win one award so the Champion will not be eligible for the Stunty Cup or the Rookie Wonder Award. The winner of the Stunty Cup will not be eligible for the Rookie Wonder Award.

The first tourney in the series was cancelled today (hopefully just postponed) for obvious reasons. But we're optimistic that tourneys will run as the year progresses. Fingers crossed!

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.
