Charlotte Bowl I
January 24, 2004 the UNCC Guild (UNCC Charlotte's Sci-fi and Gaming Club) is proud to present Charlotte Bowl I. It will be held on the UNCC campus in Charlotte, NC. The cost: FREE!! (other than you paying for transportation, food, hotel and other entertainment while your here)
The idea for the Charlotte bowl was started to get the 3 BB Leagues in Charlotte inviolved in a tournament but than we thought it migth be fun to open it up to all the BB players. If you think you can make it drop me an email and let me know.
Thanks
Steve

The Charlotte Bowl is on.
I would like to invite everyone who plays BloodBowl to the Charlotte Bowl.
This event is being hosted by the UNCC Guild and will be a fund raiser for
them. The cost is $5.
It will be Saturday the 24 of January at the Cone building at UNCC. Start
time is 2:00 pm (sorry there are some other activities going on prior to it)
And will be 3 games using a scoring system similar to Rogue trader
tournaments. It will go until about 10:00 unless everyone plays really fast.
So you're looking at 2 hours per game.
The teams allowed are those in the Living rule book. We will not be using
the gate rules, money etc. but at the end of each game you can give one
player (of your choice) a skill from his skill list. Also any dead or
injured players come back at the end of each game.
Let me know if you have any questions and I will try to answer them.
Tell your friends who play also.
Answers to some questions I was asked.
Big guys are allowed per rules, one star player is allowed on each team andthey are full price. Only the regular players and big guys can get an end of game skill.

Directions
Here are directions to get to the tournament once you're in Charlotte
To get to the campus just get yourself on I-85 and take it all the way to Exit 42. After you get off the exit it'll merge into one lane, take the second right which will have a sign saying "UNCC." This will take you to University Blvd. Take University Blvd to the college. Park in the Cone Parking Deck, this will make it easy to find the Cone Building where we are. We'll be in Cone 111, 112, 113 so that's on the ground floor right when you get out of the parking lot.

Woke up this morning to snow!
Charlotte Bowl was a great day! Nice turn out of good coaches and fun all afternoon. Congratulations to Tony and his Wood Elves and kudos to Steve Gibbs for putting it all together...
What I learned was...
a. Haflings can roll 5's and 6's to score, just like any other opponent
b. the date for the Chaos Cup seems to be settled as November 3rd;
c. a fourth game would have been possible in the same day. In the discusssion for Galak's Memorial Day Massacre, there were various opinions on the benefits/problems of three or four games in one day. Charlotte Bowl started near 2pm and finished three games just before 9pm. A tourney that started at 9am, strictly enforced a two hour gametime, had 30 minutes between games 1 and 2, and games 3 and 4, with a 90 minute lunch, could end near 7:30 and not be terrible for the coaches. Even the Old Monkey wasn't falling asleep at this one...
Seriously, thanks to all the NC coaches for coming to play - it was a great way to start the tournament season in 2004! (gotta work on my defense - outta practice...

Thaks Old Man for coming up It was great to see you agian.
The next "Big" BB tournament I'm planning on running is the ConCarolina Bowl II. Old Man Monkey said he'd be back to defend his title from last year. It is scheduled for June 5 and I'm planning on 3 games again unless the people who come want 4.
Hopefully the Charlotte Bowl will be an annual thing.
