Stars at Tournaments

Post by DoubleSkulls »

Using the NAF data I've compiled the following tables to show the differences that Stars make to tournament results. The only tournaments that I know stars were allowed at are:

The Chaos Cup
The Blood Bowl
DragonBowl

GenCon is not included because of the different rules for SPs - I haven't bothered showing the data because the sample is far too small to get any sort of reliable results from.

So the prelimary results are as follows:

Code: Select all

Humans & Undead the big winners. Wood Elves doing better is a bit of a surprise - I guess Strip Ball on the WDs helps a lot against Griff/Luthor etc. I am a bit surprised that Orcs don't do so well, -7% obviously Varag isn't all he's cracked up to be. Maybe its over indulgence in Morg.

Well, here's a try. Dwarfs are less likely to be impressed by the number of skills a Star has (oooh, your Star has "Block", wow, so does my entire team), while having expensive stars in the opponents team means that they have less other players (less positionals with high Mv, and less players in total as well). This in turn means that it may be slightly easier for a Dwarf team to get the numerical advantage over the opponent it so dearly needs...

Just an idea, dunno how much sense it makes...

Also it's worth considering that the BB and the CC will have drawn in a greater number of "novice" coaches, i.e people who don't play regularly or attend tournaments, and they tend to take the basic teams like humans, orcs or undead. Dunno if it's a pertinent example but I played 6 people at the BB and after talking to all of them only 2 considered themselves regular players - most came because they fancied giving it a go. Of those 4 part-timer teams there were 2 undead & 2 human, all with stars maxed out :)

I suspect Jordell goes some way toward boosting the welfs - they can then effectively have 3 WD bouncing around the pitch.

Not on 100TR if they have ANY sense...

Good data Ian. Frightening similarity between the teams perceived to have the best stars and actual results. And I'd agree that in a star player environment, Woodies can compete as they don't need to knock Luthor or Griff on his arse to get the ball and be off with it.

Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when they find out, you're a mile away...... and you have their shoes.
