It was a great day though, some great stories. Couple of my personal highlights:
- Nazgob losing a Blodging Ogre to a halfling foul on turn one of game one.
Merrick taking on my "Make 10 Go For It rolls in one turn" challenge like a hero, even making the last two with Deeproot Strongbranch.
Watching Hawk manage to pull of a One Turn Touchdown despite me sticking him on two minute turns.
Wobert, upon hearing that there was a spot prize for the next person to score a touchdown, making a GFI to score... only to fail it on the touchdown line.
wwe2015's valiant and constant attempts to complete a Long Bomb pass with Orcs.
Angry Hobbit's Puggy being thrown at Morg, bouncing off of Morg's manly chest and dying.
Watching Nazgob and Ploppy have an Ogre-off in constant rain.
Nightwing visibly struggling with the hard decision of whether to foul on turn 16 - despite being 1-1 and having no bribes - before walking it in.
Watching Monkey Trumpet pitch clear Mawph's Pro Elves - With Goblins!
Following Merrick's epic 5-0 win with Halflings, somehow managing to pull of five completions with them at the same time.
Discovering Wobert's Elves had been out-bashing Eth4n's Orcs, who in turn had been out-passing said elves (6 completions from an orc team!)
Hearing Bert try to come to terms with why his Yhetee had been fouled off the pitch - successfully - by a Black Orc.
Goading Jip into using Sneaky Git... Or trying to!
Just... so many Ogres. I think there were roughly 19 Ogre models being used today.
Declaring that the next spot prize was going to the next person to suffer a turnover on their first action of the turn - then it being claimed literally five seconds after!
Watching Frogboy go from having Fame +1 to his opponent having Fame +2 - then rolling pitch invasion.
Crowding round the top table watching Wob and Hawk's immensely tense final match... 4-4, one turn left, Skaven have possession... Then Wob getting a perfect defense!!
Basically, I had a blast, and I hope everyone else did too. I'm well up for running it next year (Orclympics?), so keep your ears peeled. I'll do a proper blog write up thing soon, going into a bit more detail about how the scoring system worked and its implications (if you're into that sort of thing), but for now I'm off to bed...
