I tried sending a pm to one of the other members of the forums but the mail seems to stay in my outbox, why does it not appear in my sendbox?

Outbox is your messages that have gone..sendbox is your messages that you've written but not sent yet.

ok, now that is confusing.

The thing to realise is that it is called SENDbox, not SENTbox, indicating it hasn't been sent yet. I agree that most mail clients use outbox for items that have not been sent for whatever reason so it can be confusing.
