Newbie questions

Post by WYSiWYG »

Hey guys,
I just started out playing bloodbowl, curently fielding wood elves (because there were very easy to scratch build for a 7-year wood elve fantasy player).

I am thinking about building a nurgle armie, because I like the concept off the army and it appeals the most to me.
I do realise the army looks rather weak on paper, how true is this in real live?
On a side note, I was planning on converting a team for me, but some browsing trough the GW site (on the search for some ideas how they should look like) showed they dont have a nurgle team (anymore?)
Any one has one?
pics are warmly welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

When you say "army", do you mean a BB team, or a WFB army?

If you mean WFB, can't help you - try a WFB board.
If you mean a BB team, then it's not an easy team to coach, and probably not a beginner's team, but it's probably near the top at the start of it's live, and one of the best teams at higher power levels.

As for the models, there is a team - not sure why it's not showing on the webstore, unless they've taken it down whilst they sort out booster packs. In the meantime, check BBFigs - http://www.bloodbowlfigs.com/index.php?option=nurgle

hehe...
I'm most sorry mate, that is what you get from playing only with armies for that many years... I do mean a bloodbowl Team. (writes down only to talk about teams from now on).

Can you guys give any hints?
-How do I best start a team? Wich models do I include?
-Wich skills are best for my models (if they would ever succeed in getting skills that is off course? :) )

One a side topic (and yes, realising this must be a very newby question)
does it matter at all if your models are on big bases or on small ones?
I'm thinking about converting some off the "hell dorado" deamons, as they look great as "nurglish like creatures" (i dont really like the GW team), but I'm figuring most off them are not easily gonna fit a small round base...

In theory, size of base doesn't matter, as each player only occupies one sqaure, regardless of "real life" size.
In practise, it makes a lot of difference, as anything bigger than a normal round base will intrude into the swuares around it. Not much of a problem if you only have one large base, but if most of the teams on big bases....
(Waits for the obligitory 40mm pitch post from one of the Canadian lot. ;) )

As for rosters and skills, look in the Tactics & Team development section, there should be plenty of advise in there.

Self advertising here ... sorry as I never saw this question.

The Nurgle team sold by GW doesn't match the LRB 5.0 at all (its not even close).

Your best bet to get a good Nurgle team without breaking the bank at this point is to shop for one at www.BBFigs.com . Otherwise you need to buy 5 BB boxed team sets (at 25 GBP or $45 USD each) and also something to represent the Beast just to get the right 16 players for a full team.

http://www.bbfigs.com/index.php?option=nurgle

Check out any of the following 3 items:
Nurgle Team (12 players): http://www.bbfigs.com/index.php?option= ... &id=NU_NTM
Nurgle Team w/Beast (13 players): http://www.bbfigs.com/index.php?option= ... &id=NU_NT2
or Complete Nurgle Team w/Beast (16 players): http://www.bbfigs.com/index.php?option= ... &id=NU_NTC

It's British.

I've used the word for ages. Donkey's years. Aeons or eons. Yonks, even.

Beside all this welcome to the board :)

Good to see another making the sensible decision to move to Bloodbowl 8)

OK I agree with others Nurgles are one of the hardest teams to master in BB so your really jumping in at the deep end. If you use 'Searh' key above though you can home in on some interesting articles in Nugle.

Miniatures wise as the guys say, getting hold of GW's minis is a bit of a mare at the moment. Impacts BBfigs is probably easiest source. However if your not planning to play in any GW store they I would encourage you to be creative and add in some miniatures from other manufacturers to really liven the team up.

Good luck though.
